Lab5 Bio/History V2.0
Laboratory5 is a collaborative project, though at the core, it is Max|Static's vision and the music builds on his ideas and compositions.
Having always been fascinated with sci-fi and electronic music, MaxStatic has been steadily making music in FL Studio since 2004.
In 2008 he met up with Technomancer. who was working on his debut album De:Harmonized and the two started slowly working together.
The track "Doubts and Visions" on Technomancer's second solo album was a collaboration between the two as Max|Static had written the lyrics and Technomancer composed the melody and produced the track, and in many ways, it can be considered an early Lab5 track as this was how the two would come to work in the future.
After a few minor releases and a few Lab5 remixes on some of Technomancer's solo releases,
in 2011 the duo released the Resurrect & Reconnect EP, which was the project's real debut release.
The 8-track EP contained tracks that were mostly instrumental and the style was largely experimental and a bit different from Technomancer's solo stuff.
As the Lab5 crew are working on their second release, the project is shaping to become even more different from Technomancer and is getting its own sound and unique quality to it. Having recently mixed in dubstep influences with the project's signature industrial cyber image, it is shaping out to be one of the most original, innovative and interesting independent music projects of today.
The project's visual art is largely credited to the American artist Tatchit who lends her talents to bringing a visual aspect to the duo's eclectic music, and the project's mascot is often featured on several of the artworks.
