Honestly, I'm leaning toward Bear after reading this. Had an idea pop right into my head.

I thought of a pic with my character and Bear, first off. Timeperiod might be late 19th to very early 20th century. Still Victorian in technology and spirit. I imagined my character as a British styled explorer/anthropologist, exploring the region in which Bear inhabits,and stumbling across the tribe in which she is her group's elder/shaman.

Perhaps the custom with guests is very gracious, a small, impromptu feast, dancing, songs, and storytelling. All of this my character would have figured on, as this has already been known to him ad his colleagues,and enjoys it all greatly, sharing his own stories through a translator.

One custom, the most important of which for social etiquette, is sharing a drink with the elder and the elder's offer of shelter in their personal hut. This catches him off guard, but accepts so as not to offend them and bring his studies to the end. However, his translator was mistaken in the English when telling him the custom was sharing shelter...it was in fact, sharing the elder's bed, finding this out only once his belongings have been moved and he's pretty well stuck.

This would allow her to let out some of her dominant side, as being a Victorian era gentleman, she'd have to take the lead, but wouldn't press upon my need to maintain control.

How's that for an idea?

Actually, there IS a custom requiring providing shelter, warmth, sustenance and, if the host is married, sex among the small peoples of the North. So yeah, seems fitting.

Honestly, after writing that up, the idea kind of stuck in my head. Think my inspiration just kicked into overdrive on me when it comes to it.

I seriously don't know where it came from, but I'm glad it came out.

Real ones. A lot of customs is the same across most of those tribes, and I can imagine it being hard to find a lot, but the specific ones applying here are Dolgan and Nenets.

No, effects. Like in mortal combat and other fighting games, they are usually neat visuals. I think I'll use something like spirit for myself as a bear (it's appropriate for the shape), kind of ghostly me projecting out of the body to attack. If you don't have any specific ideas, I'll have you drawn blocking that attack with the buckler of the same UK roundel colors as you have on your character.

Fire and lightening then like a mix of Scorpion and Raiden! As those are my character main built-in abilities! And swords like how some character could temporarily use weapons in some MK games or Tekken!
Spirit is cewl! and spirit bears are a big thing over here in Native American folklore!

We are a big thing in every tribal lore. Well, except the places with no bears.

True! I just remember reading a book called The Spirit Bear in school and it was about a kid being mauled by a big Albino Grizzly in Alaska where that bear is a sign of like Death and Rebirth!

If so, I'm thinking a quiet subservient scene with the bear and my 5-tail kitsune character Akakino Chouko. She's something of a bard and an entertainer, so something where she's putting on a show or perhaps tea service.

Alternatively, something of a more BDSM context between my personal character Mikhaila and the ottah. Something on the order of sensation play, light to moderate bondage.
