Augh pain...
Hey folks. Back in April I mentioned a wrist injury in one of my journals. Turns out that my RSI is back to haunt me.
For those of you who don't know what RSI is: RSI, "Repetitive strain injuries " are "injuries of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems that may be caused by repetitive tasks, forceful exertions, vibrations, mechanical compression (pressing against hard surfaces), or sustained or awkward positions". RSI is also known as cumulative trauma disorders, repetitive stress injuries, repetitive motion injuries or disorders, musculoskeletal disorders, and [occupational] overuse syndromes."
A lot of people suffer from this condition and a lot more people ignore it in favor of continuing activities which they enjoy. Prolonged refusal to acknowledge the symptoms can mess up your body for life, and may eventually need surgery in whatever body part you happen to have the RSI. That is why I take it very seriously when I start to get wrist and hand pains, as being able to draw directly affects my career as an artist and my income.
This is the reason for my recent inactivity on the commission front. I have been working on them, however I have been doing it slowly and carefully to avoid flaring up my wrist any worse than it already is. Recently I pushed myself too hard and caused a lot of pain as a result, and I will need to take about a week to recover.
For those of you whom I owe art, and you know who you are, this means a bit of a delay in getting those commissions out. Most of them have been worked on at least to some degree, and I will continue to work on them lightly while I am resting. But it is unlikely any will get finished over the next week.
Many many apologies for the delay.
