It seems there was a strike / work stoppage in Frankfurt, Germany, which forced a number of flight cancellations, so I had to rebook my tickets. I will be home on Saturday evening. See you all soon!

Because my departure was delayed due to an airline problem, they put me up in a hotel for free and gave me free dinner and breakfast. The problem was, dinner looked very uninteresting judging from the hotel restaurant menu, so Dan/Nite helped me find a really great-sounding local restaurant, and I walked there.
The problem was, Google Maps was wrong. It sent me in the opposite direction, the restaurant was actually very far off into the distance, and it was not really feasible to reach it on foot (especially walking alone on dark streets). So, I went back to the hotel to have my free dinner.
It was even worse than I thought, because I was seated with all the other passengers who were on the canceled flights and just didn't feel much like being sociable that evening, and I was not even able to order off the bland-looking menu. We were served plain rigatoni pasta with tomato sauce (which was all cold by the time I sat down), some kind of fish (which I had no desire to try), and a mass produced frozen lemon dessert of some kind. Easily the worst meal I had my entire time there! I went back to my room in short order, far less than satisfied, hence Dan's/Nite's comment above.
As was pointed out to me, at least I was given something and didn't go hungry, though between the stressful day in the airport, the fact I was going home, and the terrible food, I really wasn't too inclined to look on the bright side of things! But it all turned out all right, and the breakfast buffet was enormous - and no one else was there, so I had the whole place to myself.
