Not sure what to do... :/ Advice?
I was just recently hired at Walmart and I started my orientation there on Monday. The store is about 7 miles from where I live and I don't have a vehicle, but the closest bus route goes takes me right to the Walmart, so I figured I'd be fine. ...Well, it turns out that the bus skips my stop on the weekend. Which I didn't know until I was already outside waiting for the bus this morning. >__> So now I'm missing my shift on the fourth day of training.
Thing is, they're already scheduling me for 35-hour weeks and I'm a full-time student as well. It's barely leaving me any time to get my assignments done for school -- I started working at Walmart less than a week ago and I'm already behind in my classes. So I'm wondering... should I just quit? :/ 35 hours is way too much, and I won't be able to take the bus on the weekends, which is when they want me to the work the most. Not to mention that I'd be working outside in the heat all day, which is horrible. I don't desperately need this job, so I can probably wait to see if there's a better job opening near where I live.
Also, if I quit, how should I go about it? Just stop showing up, or try to call a manager? I'm not technically in their employee system yet since I'm still being trained.

I've also known people that have kept full time jobs while going to college. It is not easy, especially not while trying to keep your grades up, but you're better off financially.
I'd say you could give it a shot at least, work there a few weeks (while keeping an eye out for anything better), and if it doesn't work out, try to work out a schedule with fewer hours. If they can't adjust, then quit, easy as that. :)
The other thing you can do is go to personnel and pick of a 'change of availability' form. You can request that you work only on certain days or times. I fill one of those out at the start of every school semester and they've been really good about scheduling me only on days I can make it in.
