Hard Drive Death! Oh Crap! Permadeath?! Noooo!
So my hard drive died in an epic blaze of failure the night before. While it died, it made a horrific high pitched noise (or a scream) before it passed away. It shall be missed. I'm now stuck with my laptop. It fortunately has some art programs installed and my tablet works. I need a replacement drive, and thus here I am.
In case you're wondering, it's a Seagate drive. 500 GB 7200 RPM. Sad to see it go.
The candidate for replacement? This sexy girl right here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....82E16822148337
3 times the storage capacity? Double the cache?! And cheaper than my 500 GB drive?!
This means that I'll be having to open commissions of some kind to get the money for the replacement drive.
As for the details, I am still working those out. Watch this space for updates.

This though is why I like having all of my stuff (besides the OS and some programs) on an external drive... if one computer has issues, I can spend less than one minute and take everything to another computer, no problem!
Though I have heard rumour that there is a known issue with this drive's firmware and that Seagate is willing to replace the drive, and in most cases recover the data too, free! So Im still working on contacting them and getting it sorted out... they do have a handy warranty checker though on their website, so I know my drive is still under warranty at the very least, meaning I can certainly get a replacement drive.
Maybe something to look into as well?
Too bad I can't be of any help as I haven't had comp trouble in years.
