Well, the ferrets weren't outdoors, but you were. You quite possibly could have carried a stray flea in on your clothing.

You did exactly the right things, though. Just keep a close watch on the critters, and if any more fleas appear, then seriously consider investing in some flea dip (which kills not just the fleas, but their eggs).

Yes, I agree that is probably how the flea got in. I only hope that it was not a female flea, and that it didn't lay eggs.

Well, you'll know soon enough, and if more appear, then take it to the next level - flea-dip them and their bedding, clean their cages with bleach, and vacuum the apartment like your life depended on it.

Indeed, it may be a good idea to vacuum it anyway, especially around the cages.

Well, in this case, just, as the British said during WWII, keep calm and carry on. It's very hard to do sometimes - I know I have terrible troubles with it - but it is always good advice.

What does it means with "OCD"? I think a flea is not a big problem. Our cat going from time to time out and he bringing back many fleas to home. I don't have a big problem with that. I kill them all again and again. ^^

Odd, though it is possible if any of you have walked around that park with all the other pets, a flea could have taken a ride on you when you came into contact with it's fur. When you got home you or your roommates probably handled the ferret and the flea transferred.

You got the problem handled quickly and effectively ^w^ try not to worry, because you did the best thing you could have done. I know stress isn't something you can just turn off with logic, but at this point you would be worrying over a problem in the past.

I don't know if you're in an apartment or not, but if you are it could have come from another unit. I've gotten fleas wandering in once or twice over the years I've lived where I'm at now. One, ca. 2008, was particularly ornery and liked biting me on the foot.

I eventually lured it out (using myself as bait) it and killed it. With extreme prejudice. c.c I think it was just the one flea because after that there were no further problems.

Then there was the time in college where a Freshman brought a flea-infested blanket from home and the whole dorm building had to be sprayed... x.x

I own a condo. Bought it this year. There are other condos to the left and to the right of mine, but there is no common indoor area that we share.

*nod* Mighta just wandered or hitchhiked in then, though if anyone in the immediate area has pets that hang around nearby, that might well increase the probability.
