End of Contract
Well my contract at my job ended unexpectedly today (as it did for nearly all the other temps where I worked as well) they came and told us 10 minutes before our shift ended that it was our last night there. So no goodbye potluck, no having the time to get used to the idea...just a sudden rush of emotion that these last few moments were the last ones you would be doing your job, seeing the people you've known for a year, being in that building. I did not like the job or company much, but the people made it worth it. They were my friends. We laughed and joked and we made every day bearable to get through for each other. To give us only 10 minutes to say our goodbyes and leave for the last time was unfair and just an overall shitty thing to do. I cried, I felt corned with no where to go and I just cried in front of everyone, it was embarrassing even though I know they understood. They wont even let us finish off our work week. Ug. Anyways, that's what I am dealing with now. Life has been one thing after another and just when I think it will even out for a bit, something strikes again.
I know it will all be ok in the end, it always is...but I want it to be ok in the start and the middle for a while too. Guess I have even more time to work on fursuits now, so that's a plus.

Anyway, as much as it sucks, this is the way companies do it. There have been many studies done on human psychology, to determine the "best" way to fire people. Thursday is the most chosen day, as it has been determined that firing people on a friday results in the highest levels of suicide. Termination with no notice has also been studied, and found to be the most preferable way because of a number of things. Most people are petty and given the chance, they will find ways to steal or break things if they know they have some time left before they're terminated. That one Thursday I mentioned above, I wasn't even allowed to go back to my desk. I said "well, we have a problem then, because my car keys are at my desk, so I can't really go anywhere." They were going to take all the stuff at my desk and SHIP it back to me by FedEx. It was all I could do to contain myself. My recruiter pulled the HR person aside and thru some choice of words, got them to at least let a coworker go thru my desk and gather up my stuff to bring down to me. I still wasn't allowed back to my desk. Later I sent a short, friendly email to my coworer/friends and just said it's been fun and we should do lunch or something.... come to find out they blacklisted my email address.
Companies don't care. I know it sucks, and God knows I wish it was different... but this is the way of society, and unfortunately, it's only getting worse.
Hope you are able to find a new position quickly.
