Volunteering and Saving a Rat
General
I've begun to volunteer at my local Pawmetto Lifeline. Imma be a crazy cat lady. xD I like dogs, but I dun wanna push my allergies too far.
In other news, there is a rat at my local Petsmart, and he has BAD territorial issues. He draws blood any time someone gets near him. I know he won't get adopted this way, and they do, too. So he has been condemned to a life in the back of the store. I decided to change this. I am going to pay to get him neutered, since Petsmart would never finance that. I can't take him home, because Dusty has NO interest in another rat (my vet said there is a small percentage of rats who are like that; they only want their people), so I would just be getting him fixed and then introducing him to the other rats they're selling so he can be out on the floor.
The operation will cost around $100, depending on how long it takes, so I'm budgeting for $200. If anyone wants to help, I'm open to doing art in exchange. All proceeds will go to his operation. Please spread the word!

Yeah I had a couple rats like that ;w; My baby Waffle haaated my little Donut, so we had to keep them separate. Donut just loved other rats, though. The territorial issue is more prominant in males... some people are even under the impression you can't put males together but.. that is simply not true. Good on you for doing that :) Corprorate pet stores are so bad about that (I know, I worked in one HURR) and it is even worse when the workers can't or are not allowed to take the animal home themselves. Taht is what my coworkers and I usually ended up doing. Thats how I ended up with a bunch of territorial rats adn one with eye stigmata. like on foamy. LOL.

Have you considered getting them fixed?

OP
I wouldn't if there was any other way, but the only way to tone him down to adoptable levels is to cut off his source of testosterone. :<

Why's that?

OP
The testosterone is what makes him aggressive. That's why they take the balls off dogs, not just to make them unable to breed, but also to make him stop humping, spraying, and being violent - which is what testosterone mainly tells your body to do. It does other things, like develop the sexual organs, but nothing as major as the cons. There are prosthetics, but I ain't gonna blow money on those.
