intellivision help needed

Just curious, anyone out there know much about the intellivision internals? I can't figure out why it needs a 16.7V power supply when all the diagrams show max voltage at 5V

The units could actually take a 16V power supply... in fact most 3rd party ones were just that. The stock Intellivision II also came with a 16V. The only thing that really matters though is the amperage... try to keep it in the 900-975ma range. Exceeding that rating could fry the board.
