Here's one creature idea I've had for sometime now. It's heavily influenced by the Japanese spirit called Baku that can eat nightmares. So, they will all have Japanese like names.

Yukoren - These are beings that devour dreams. They're usually pacifists and generally never fight unless it is to defend their territory. There are gender differences to help tell them apart. Not only that, there are clan differences as well which will be discussed later.

[*]Low, pointy, bulky elf-like ears
[*] Wild, unkempt hair
[*]Markings all over
[*]Sharp Claws
[*]Horns that vary in size and shape/style
[*] Very tall with the minimum height being at least 6'.

[list] Female Yukoren
[*]Pointy ears like the males, but are more higher and slender
[*]Very slender (They're very athletic)
[*]Average height that can range to 5' to just to little before 6'
[*]No claws
[*]Clean, well kept hair.
[*]Have markings just on their faces
[*]No horns

The Yukoren are broken up into two clans: Those who eat nightmares (Tanoshī) and those who eat pleasant dreams (ryōshi). Here are the differences between the clans.

Tanoshī yume (Tanoshī for short. Means Pleasant Dreams)

[*]All clansmen have green eyes.
[*]Have very light, ghost like skin color (From very pale to a beige, human like color)
[*]They only devour Nightmares. Purebreeds can also create happy dreams to put into their "victim"
[*]Exist in balance with the Ryōsh clan.

Yume no ryōshi (Ryōshi for short. Means Dream Trapper)

[*]All clansmen have Yellow/gold eyes
[*]Have darker skin tones than their counterpart clan ranging from light tan to dark tan.
[*]They only devour pleasant dreams.
[*]Exist in balance with the Tanoshī clan.

Both clans are able to reproduce with each other, but prefer to stay within their own clan. If two Yukoren mate from different clans, their offpring will have hetochromia with an eye color from each clan. Yukoren can also reproduce with humans, but this is very taboo and is frowned upon. If either clan, male or female, has mated with a human, it must immediately be reported to the Clan elders and that Yukoren is banished from his/her clan. Depending on the gender of the half-breed, they will either have the characteristics of a male or female Yukoren. There are minor differences.

[*]All half-breeds will have sectoral heterochromia that varies based on what clan the Yukoren parent used to belong to. If they were once of the Tanoshī clan, half of the iris will be green while the other half will be whatever color the non-Yukoren parent is. If the parent was once from the Ryōshi clan, half of their iris will be yellow/gold while the other half is whatever color the non-yukoren parent is.
[*]They have the ability to not only devour human dreams, but their own clansmen as well. This causes the clansmen to become weak and eventually die despite good intentions.
[*]If any half-breeds exist, they must be brought before the elders of both clans. This is just so the elders can familiarize themselves with the half-breed so they will know if they come into their territory.
[*]Depending on what clan the Yukoren parent comes from, they may either devour pleasant dreams or nightmares. Like their parents, they may produce dreams, but unlike their parents, they can only do so on a full moon.

Each clan has a set of rules they follow, but there are some rules that they all must follow.

[*]They are not allowed to mate with humans.
[*]They are to protect children and not give them nightmares
[*]They must not fight amonst themselves or the other clan.
[*]Other than giving humans nightmares (that are often the request of other humans as a form of revenge), no harm must come to them

Thankful that the Yukoren watch over them, they hold a festival during New Years and other times to honor them.
