You ever make a purchase that you've never been entirely certain of?
For years I've been wanting one of those cowboy Dusters you see in a lot of old westerns. http://www.culturedcowboy.com/outba.....tbackcoats.htm When they first hit the mainstream they were expensive and I could easily turn away from them for the cost issues.
As time passed the cost became far more reasonable to me and so on my way back from AnthroCon this year I made up my mind to get one. "Why the hell not? I need a raincoat and my Trenchcoat is better saved for formal occasions." I said to myself. So I ponied up the dough, shouldered the cross-border cost and had a nice brown Duster... in time for a fairly dry summer.
It stayed in my closet and I often looked at it wondering if I really HAD to buy it when I did.
Last week Winnipeg had the first 'snowfall' of the year... and by snow I mean slush. I may have been the only person happy to see it arrive. I pulled out my Duster and my waterproof leather hat and walked to work in relative comfort.
Since then we've had a few more wet days with just ordinary drizzle or rain and now I finally feel I can stop feeling any regret over my purchase.
Maybe soon I will get to use my Arrow Sash so I can feel good about that too.
