Try hamachi. It's a nice virtual IP address program. It's easy to set up networks and use it for OC sessions.

As for the Japanese lettering in OC, go to the last menu, and switch it over to English. ^_^'

To host an oC session with Hamachi:

When Hamachi is started up, make sure openCanvas is open to the network window as well. In big white letters should be an IP Address - this is what you need to give to others so they may connect to you. Make sure you are standing by in oC, and the people connect to your hamachi network. It should work when they go to join if done correctly.


To join an existing oC session with Hamachi:

You must join another's network, and use their IP address when connecting. I forgot the name of the tabs, but whichever tab in oC contains a "password" entry, is the one you use to connect to others. BTW: Passwords for an oC session are not mandatory, and in most cases are best left undone since no one really joins if they aren't invited.

BTW, the oC server program I THINK is something as an adon - it's not needed, unless you decide to have more than 4 people in an oC or something - which in most occasions are too many, as there are limitations - people can use the same layer, too much can overload the server or oC itself, etc. It can be troublesome to use it, and although I haven't used it, I've had bad experiences when in an oC that had a custom server like that.
