how do I livestream?
Should I ever decide to live stream art, how does one go about doing it? What hardware is involved, like cameras or tablets or the like?

FA+

I'm a greymuzz myself, and have no experience livestreaming, but I know computers and will be happy to help you.
I would suggest starting here: http://help.livestream.com/customer.....-i-livestream-
"I got the Jpeg sent to the laserjet printer"
"what?"
"...uhh.... Machine printing pretty pictures"
ANYWAYS first we need to know if you're doing it on paper or on a PC of sorts
You need a good fast PC or Mac. A 2008 iMac won't cut it; something within the past two years will do.
You will also need at the very least a webcam mangler. For Windows, there's ManyCam. For Mac, there's Camtwist Studio. Both are free.
While you can then feed ether your desktop, a good webcam, or both from Livestream's website, you can also pull LiveStream's Producer/Broadcaster software. Be careful, it reportedly breaks.
What do I do for Linux?
Well, I full-screen cast from my Linux PC over VNC to my iMac, which turns it into a virtual webcam. Livestream Producer pushes it up to their servers. At times, I take a modern Logitech or Microsoft webcam, point it on my clipboard on the table, and draw that out, showing the page. The camera's hooked into the iMac... the 2008 iMac which barely has enough juice to do the job.

keep things at a respectable quality considering your computer and upload speed, and you'll be fine. just play with it, and see what your system can handle!
(I'm going to assume you're just using a tablet and some kinda drawing program of course. if not, Procaster can still grab video feeds from your webcam hardware)
There should a link at the bottom that says have an old livestream account go here. And you click that link and simply click the sign in at the top and follow the instructions there. either choose broadcast or watch live. if you select broadcast it asks you what channel you want to create before you create your livestrea account. If you just wanna go straight to the sign up then select watch and it skips the create a channel phase entirely. You can create a channel to broadcast on later, either way you get the same result. Just one allows you to have a channel from the start. Anyway from there all you need is a basic webcam if you wanna broadcast yourself in the real world via a program called procastor from the site it's self. You don't have to use Procastor if you don't want to but it's good for just broadcasting on the site. It works but it's not without it's hiccups... A lot of hiccups. But it's easy to use and ready to go. Setup is a breeze as it automatically detects what hardware you have that is compatible with it. However i'd reccomend keeping all setings on minimum. Porcastor tends to get temperamental real fast otherwise (it's also a serious resource hog when you do this and it can and probably will crash your computer for it so it's best to just keep it all on minimum). From there just open procastor, select your channel, and select broadcast. either on desktop or webcam if you got one. Also if you got a mic it's good to use as it allows you to answer questions while keeping your hands free to do art.
As for the mic. I have a 5 dollar one sitting on my desk right now and it works just fine with livestream. Doesn't have any bells and whistles like sound dampening or the like but it suits me fine.
