From what I've gathered, you're a good person and you have people that really do care about you; I sincerely do hope that things go well for you though we've never met until now, and I hope that a doctor can find a way to treat you. *offers a hug*

I think I was pointed your way by the same person who pointed Kepora. Please accept my condolences, for what little they're worth. I'm afraid the closest T have to understanding your position is growing up in the '60s and '70s, (under threat of The Bomb. But I had company...) What I found is that you can't live afraid. You have to stay calm and carry on, as if everything was going to be fine. Until it wasn't, but that was unimaginable, so we didn't. The bravest of us tried to make some kind of difference, although all they could really do was wave signs and yell slogans. It was something.

So my advice to you, for what it's worth, is to heal from the operation. Then, since there's nothing you can do, stop thinking about it. Just because your "bomb" could "blow up" on you at any time doesn't mean that it will. Keep up with the scientific literature and hope that what's not operable now might become operable before it's too late. Meanwhile, live now, while live you can. Make a difference. Love. Yiff. Create. Smile. Be a friend. Be the best you that you can be. Make sure that, if the worst does happen, everybody cries at your funeral. You'll find that thinking about other people's problems keeps your mind off your own. (Yes, in the end it's hypocrisy, but no system's perfect. It works, that's what matters.) Also, find a philosophy that works for you and stick with it.
