Okapi Calf Debut At Sedgwick County Zoo near Wichita, KS.
Dear Princess Celestia
The male okapi calf was born on July 5. This is the second okapi calf born at the Sedgwick County Zoo and to adult female, Likimi.
At birth Epulu weighed 68 pounds, and he has now doubled that number. Because okapi calves do not control their own body heat, Likimi and Epulu have remained off exhibit for the duration of the summer heat. Now that the heat has passed, it’s time for Epulu to come out and play.
This is good news!
