Sunday Trip

I had such a beautiful day today. We canceled the trip to the zoo because the forecast predicted showers through the day that ended up not happening but..
The afternoon started out as going to get hotdogs for lunch and a little drive. We ended up driving about 45 minutes toward Keflavik with some random turns to the peninsula of south western tip of Iceland called Reykjanes .
The only time I decided not to bring my camera because I didn't expect it!!!! I am still rather sad about not being about to snap photos of this place.
It was so gorgeous. It was surrounded by the normal lava fields and what not(which by some chance I actually enjoy looking at). We spent the time chatting over the nature of Iceland and whatever else crossed our minds.
I got to see this one type of bird (100s of this species near our destination) called the Arctic Tern . Fascinating birds but a bit of a pain when trying to drive through groups of them.
We ended up on the coast somewhere with lots of big protruding rocks stuck out of the ocean and one of the islands called "Fire Island" off in the distance (fog). By some strange luck there was this men's choir down the cliff near the coastline with one of the huge rocks, being video recorded and singing.
There is also a lighthouse over there. Sadly we weren't anywhere prepared to walk up the hill to see the view, but it was still breath taking to see and nice to just look at. I was in awe the entire trip with all this nature and new things for to see.
After that we stopped in a town called Grindavik .They once were a part of Iceland where the US Navy were once stationed. Also they specialize in Salt Cod . I even saw some places where they hang the fish to dry..and one building that had fish out drying. After our short drive around that town we headed back home.
Here is a map of Iceland to help you get a tiny feel of where these places are on the map Iceland
Overall it was a gorgeous, sunny, warm day with the family.
I love seeing places and learning things about animals and nature (I guess I can say it is one of my interests and hobbies along with photography). :D
Sorry if I sounded boring, lame and corny. Just felt like I had to share with everyone.
