x3 yeah i do commission but I work slow cause life keeps me busy but I work on my commissions when ever I have downtime and keep people posted on whats going on

Yeah i totally understand that, but its not cool open for new slots and finish them first that the others. Thats the point, not the delay itself because the commissioner thinks. "Why he does that? my commission is not as important as others?"

Specially if its a simple sketch and the others are complex pictures with backgrounds and full color.

x3 yeah I just keep a couple open and once filled I dont take on anymore until my current load is done o o ive seen a few artists take up to a year

Yeah, even that's happened to me before with a popular artist. In the end, I got my art (which was a badge), and was extremely disappointed with it. I never commissioned them again since.

Yeah. It's a fairly known artist. And i was the next on the IA batch....since 2 months ago. Since then i sent her asking about the status and she only replied that she didnt had news. Ans is still opening more commissions :S

I don't like to get mad at artist, but oh man...

Friend of mine had similar situation. He showed his frustration to the artist after long time, soon after that the artist changed their terms of policies.

Yeah aparently if you're too kind they ignore you, but if you request to get an update time to time you're a bad person...

Yeah, but the best choice is to be "a bad person" and demand for the art to be finished. You've paid for it.

Yeah me too, but its not right for my point of view don't get any update, and if ask about your comission get a simply "no, i dont have news" and instead of start working on it open for more slots.

This artist (that is happening to me right now) already finished 20 pictures in full color with background and 4 days ago opened for 10 more slots.

I just had the same issue with  robyn_paperdoll

She auctioned off a piece 9 months ago, and sat on my money taking new commissions.

Funny thing is that later on she was complaining about one of her recent commissioner didn't pay up and how she was cheated off hard earned money, lol.

I made a couple snide comments and she deleted the journal and produced half of the stuff she owes me in a couple days. Still waiting on the rest

The bad side is that you need to be rude and they later spread the word saying that you're a bad commissioner...but actually they're a bad artist.

Heh I get the worst luck with commissioning. I'm still waiting on two or three pieces, one of them was even a friend doing it. As well, once in a stream I paid upfront, he asked me " What do you want" I replied " Give me a moment to think..."without missing a beat he said " Too slow, next person" and ignored me the rest of the stream without refunding my money. Sometimes the nerve on these people, and the thing is we let it get this bad because most of the fandom worships the good ones like fallen gods.

What a jerk! Did you posted him in artist_beware? Also you could did a chargeback in paypal right away.

Second to both these ideas.

at the time I didn't know it was there, and it's a little late now plus all my 2011 record on paypal aren't there.

Paypal keeps all the records, you only need to get to the advanced section and browse thru the dates or email addreses.

ugh i hate when this happens! :c it's really discouraging. that's why i only take like 3 slots at a time lol so that way i KNOW i can finish other people's stuff before taking more. c: plus i don't get swamped.

Some folks needs a good slap from Miss Todger from time to time. It helps to bring back some common senses.

I say pay when i'm ready to start :P But yeah it's quite unprofessional to leave a picture undone AFTER PAYMENT for that long while still taking and doing other art :(

i still owe 8 pieces of art to one person(been 8 months) 1 peice to another person(7months) and 1 picture to a new person (about a month) and guess what they have been really patient. if you look at my gallery i was like in a really big funk and having hard time to draw cause i had no muse and no inspiration to draw what so ever... its people that are like this that make me happy...i really do try to draw bit by bit like an hour at most for their pictures but i try as much as i can.

i havent taken any new commissions since then. i am really tryin my best to do these pictures.. thats how an artist should act. i dont take money unless i am doing other peice of art for another artist that will soon be done. and not to mention i will ask for money once in awhile cause its either for a good cause like i did recently buying my mom a lil porciline statue of miguel pro a priest for my moms day of the dead memory box of my grandmother.
