Sad and disturbed, need a hug...

From the Desk of Jack the Gorilla....
There are times that living in a swing state can be tough. With the upcoming election I've been getting tons of robo-calls, and surveys and polls, and can't turn on the TV or watch Youtube without being assaulted by campaign ads! It's getting to me. But thats not the disturbing part I need help with. (And yes, no matter who you vote for, I think it is an important process)
No, whats bothering me is an ad that just stuck with me, and I'm not even sure whose ad it was! It was one of those that my mind kept wandering back to throughout the day and made me sad. (Only two other things have hit me this hard in the past, Pear Jam's Do the Evolution when it first came out, and the family guy 'road to the north pole' disturbed me as well. But taken as a cautionary tale, that perspective blunted it for me)
In this add, it's taking place at a Chinese University lecture hall. The commercial is in Chinese and subtitled in English. The professor is talking about how 'all the greatest civilizations in the past have fallen. The greeks, Rome, the United States. They all fell because they betrayed the values they were founded on. For instance the United States tried to tax and spend it's way out of debt. We held most of that debt. So thats why they work for us now." then the whole auditorium begins to laugh.
I know it's cautionary, and a warning about spending, and a somewhat founded fear. The problem is however, how it's making me feel so crappy of over the last 12 hours!
I hope that I skirted being political, and it's not so much the content or right to say it, it's the recurring feelings I'm having trouble with. Sorry, I'm not even sure If this is the correct forum to be 'blogging' in. But a few words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Wish I knew how to help you feel better or what to say though cause I'd definitely do so. >< -knocking on his own skull as if it would help the thought process-
Anyway, let me remind you of our cultures' most valuable treasure that outweighs any other things like money: The individual freedom. Sadly, China will still have a long, painful way to go to reach this.
