Hurricane Sandy-Opinions, preps, anyone in the line of fire?

Relevant topic to survivalism/prepping, the ongoing storm over in America. I doubt anybodies missed it on the news, its even all over the news here in the UK! Y'all got any opinions?
Was watching a piece earlier about peoples last minute preps, and thinking to myself: Even a small bit of prepping would help avoid any last minute rushes. I (Meyou) have preps put aside for everthing from a flat tire right up to "OMFG THE END IS NIGH!" including severe weather. A couple years ago there was heavy snow in the UK, and stories of people being trapped in their cars, so I feel being prepared for long-term AND short-tern disasters is very important - No point prepping for the apocalypse and getting wiped out by a snow-storm, eh?
Any of you guys in the line of fire? If so, tell us what you're doing to prepare for the storm!

I should note that I have family in NY (Long Island specifically) that will be bearing the brunt of the storm. I hope they are safe, and I shall be praying for them.

Numerous maydays being called by the New York City Fire Department on Coney Island. The whole island is reportedly submerged. Battalion 41 says no more FDNY personnel will respond to the island.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office has confirmed that water is cascading into Holland Tunnel.
Flooding is inevitable in any storm, and seeing as how it struck NYC, the subway tunnels are, of course, goin to flood. They are way below ground.
The worst part is that it is striking a large city, but the storm surge shouldn't be too bad. Not TOO bad. But best of luck to anyone up there.
I'm glad I only had to pick up beer or I would've been pretty sore on food.
A dynamo/windup radio is a must have. Got one for my Mom and it came in handy when the power went out during a thunderstorm here in MI. Wanted to get her a Taurus Circuit Judge for home defense, but she said no.
