I'm thinking of making an art book. Thoughts?
OH HAI.
Storyboards are taking over my life, but at every board delivery I get a few hours to myself as I download the new material for the next storyboard. This time is usually spent trying to sort what I need to do outside of work, and sometimes new project ideas pop up or return.
I'm thinking of compiling some of my art into a book to sell at conventions. This book would contain a lot of commissions, some personal works, and some of the pro work I would be allowed to include. Unless I get permission, I would not include any commercially trademarked characters. It would be a mix of furry and non furry work, and it would be G rated so I can sell it everywhere I go with no worries about offending anyone, and in larger comic cons, books are merchandise, which goes a lot better than commissions. I'm posting this to ask for your feedback.
- Would you be interested in such a book?
- If you've commissioned me, would you be okay with your commissioned art appearing in a "Art of Kanthara" book?
- Should it include only finished art, or should I add sketches? What about commentary about my process? This isn't to make a how-to book, it's a "look at the pretty pictures" art book, but I'm open to ideas on content.
Looking forward to your feedback, guys!

Please dont leave out sketches, its always awesome to see how artists start out their work <3 and commentary is always fun to read :) its interesting to see whats going on in your mind when workin on a piece.
DO IT!
So yes, totally go for it!
You can use my commissions if you want.
And I would include sketches too. That way people who buy the art book can see a bit of a progression from how a drawing from you starts to a "finished" colored piece.
I'd also love to get your book if you sell it via a webstore for a reasonable price :D
As for commissions, I don't have anything by you so I can't comment on that (though I wouldn't mind the piece I got from you being in the book, if I were a commissioner of yours, but I guess that's just hypothetical at this point, heh).
And as for sketches and commentary--that's something I love to look through. So although this wouldn't be a tutorial book, I'm the kind of person who likes looking at processes other artists go through when doing their work. It's just an interesting thing for me. So I'd say you should include it. :D
As for my own, I would be flatterred!
on the note of Commissions, I'll do my best to scan the piece I got from you at Furfright soon. Still wrapping up haunted house season (two more days left, woot!) then I'll be able to go pester my friends with scanners and be like *poke poke poke poke * heeeeeeeeey buddy! :D
>.>;;;; sorry, little spazzy right now...
I also wouldn't mind to see my comission in your book. :) question is, would it be G-rated still? ^_^
I've certainly got no problems with my fur being in said book, it is for people to look at and enjoy after all!
And as for content, well some of my favorite art books are conceptual art for video game design, and theres often partial, unfinished and rough work in there which in my books is awesome :)
Never commissioned you, an egregious error upon my part, but good gravy I'd love to see an art book by you. ;)
And yes, you can use the art you've drawn for me in said book.
