neither. I did not like anyone this year.. we were going to be screwed either way. Both of them weren't going to do anything that this country needs to have done for it.

It's is hard when neither of the ones running are good. Exactly like you said, screwed either way... I hope one day, just one day, someone good will go up and do America good! I'm from Canada but no matter what country, every country needs a leader that will do right... Unfortunately, that will probably never happen...

I basically have the notion now that the government, no matter who they are, will play their game of thrones, and we the smallfolk will simply pray and hope for good harvests and summers that never end. No reason to get upset about it, everybody will screw us over, no matter who they are. If they were good people, they wouldn't have gotten into politics anyway... I'm talking to you, Obama supporters.

yeah :< we are in way over our heads.. I think a lot of people are just so desperate to cling to SOMETHING that will make things better or appear to.. :/ it's understandable.. but we can't lose ourselves just because we're that desperate to fix it.

Here's the thing... the nation is the people, not its leaders. We don't need someone to save us, we should do what we need to do to get by. Our best hope is that the government does us as little harm as possible.

Well politics will always be politics, at least this time we didn't end up with the worst possible option.

Well not necessarily, if (and I really mean IF) the legalization of weed goes through with apropriate taxation and is later applied unilaterally we could see a good decrease in the national debt, add on top of that the prospect of increased marginal taxation on the rich and a decrease of spending on military invasion funds (because as things are we have enough to protect our country, the 45% of the budget deticated to military spending is way to high) would provide adaquate funding for things like education and obama care without substancially raising the deficit. The problem lies in whether or not such changes can be made while the 2 houses are divided and essentialy cock blocking anything the other party dishes out.

And no I'm not a democrat or a republican, I'm saying this from a sideline perspective. Any form of tax cuts will do nothing but create more debt and inflation of the us economy

It has potential, and you can look to places like Amsterdam and the large revenue it generates as a model. But while it has potential, no I don't think our flawed and corrupted government that is constantly at war with itself will be able to properly utilize such an asset.

As I said earlier it's a big IF, and I only brought it up as an example of something that could be used to lower the deficit not eliminate it. It's similar to the heavy tax placed on cigarets, granted it's going to take a lot more then just that to combat our governments insane amount of spending.
