Have you tried just sending him a msg?

Umm... I'm a friend of his, he is trying to find a new one and everyone who asks he sais it's your character, not his .3. Right now he is going through a hard time but I'm getting a commission done with his character hopefully in it and then he should switch it out, otherwise I think he is thinking of just drawing his own if he cant but right now FB has blocked him from everything except posting statuses and photos on his wall so he can't change his picture even if he wanted to at the moment

I guess you're overreacting a bit, man. Sure, it's a crop of your commission but it's just a profile picture, and he's not claiming to be his or his character. Also the guy above prtty much explained the situation so I guess we don't have a reason to report the guy.

Ill do my best to work something out with him, but until FB allows him to change his photo were kinda stuck .3. Love your characters btw, have a for snake character myself, different markings, smaller and red eyes but still :3 cornsnakes~ ^w^ anywho, ill see what I can do and ill pass along the message alright!

Bah, that would explain why i can't find a way to send it... so it would be nice if you could ask him to not use that art. I understand that using a found art is pretty common when you don't have your own character draw but still it's not nice for the original owner ^^'

I know ^^ I'd be a little peeved if someone used one of my characters without asking, but it happens, still don't worry, I will ask him when I get home and onto Skype ^^

Hasn't happened to me yet, my characters arnt that well known and I'm a wrighter, seems not many people read stories on here, I think it's cause admiring a picture takes less time then listening to a song or reading a story, but Maby one day, I just don't think I'd mind to much as long as they credit my character and say it's not there's, but as I say again, hasn't happened yet, I've got one picture and a prologue so .3. Arf

Yea, alittle sad cause I've seen some amassing writers and singers who don't get recognized but what are we gona do? I think it would be more common and pupular if stories and muscic were going together with art, because art would catch the eye and attention, and then attention would go on music or writing ^^" Haha, and i know that pain of waiting xP *hug* But you will get it ^^

Some of my friends used to do this all the time... They'd stalk deviantart and find pictures they liked and then use them for their characters. Man... it bugged the crap out of me! No fair stealing other people's intellectual property. I knew they didn't mean anything bad of it but still. It's vexing when someone tries to borrow your aesthetic designs for their own purposes. :<

Hope it gets sorted out... maybe this other person could use a little learning experience with regard to plagiarism, intended or not. :3

You paid for the artwork, own the right to the character, Onta owns the rights to the pic, the guy doesn't, so it's indeed a clear-cut case :I

But talking about right, i suppsoe that in commissions both sides have rights. It can't be divided into character rights and artwork rights because they create one thing together. Hmm... that must be an interesting subject about rights xD

I'm just going by the consensus on those things :P Sure there can be variations.

I'll be honest, I don't like the fact that he ripped off my character enough that he can just flat-out using someone else's artwork because it looks that much like my character. It's extremely poor etiquette, if not character theft. I wish he would reconsider his character and be more creative.

Well, his character is green, and less muscular, as well as a very different personality, it's just hard due to the fact that cornsnakes a look very similar to each other, just different markings, but yea, I do see where your coming from, it was an interesting process making my own corn snake character unique (love those snakes ^^ see them all the time) mainly cause of you, cause I made him and did a quick sketch and one of my friends was like, hey! That looks like Hextra, and I was like who??? So he showed me and then It was back to the character designing board, so yea, I'm ranting :P any who, glad we could get it all sorted out!
