MFF 2012 Report
Wow. Where to even start...
I don't want to list out the overly specific details of my con, cause I could write for pages and pages and ain't nobody got time for that! TL;DR version: It was just totally awesome, a lot of my con revolved around rocking out my new suit which I love to bits. I didn't quite "keep the magic" as much as I liked because wearing my own "character" I felt more like myself except covered in fur, and thus I still wanted to be social with my friends at the same time. I almost have a hard time remembering if I was in or out of suit at certain points because it wasn't even about the suit or performing, it was just me having a great time with everyone. The suit just amplified all the positive things inside me when I was wearing it. I do hope to live up the performance side of suiting better and tried to keep that magic with strangers, but for now I was just getting the feel of the appearance and enjoying myself.
On to the slightly more specific stuff:
First and foremost, all the staff at MFF totally rocked it out this year. As an attendee I didn't really see much of the inner workings, which I think is a testament to just how smooth they can make it work (or at least make it look that way to everyone else). For as good of a time as I had, I am so grateful to the staff that had to put in their time and effort to make it happen for everyone. For any of the staff that read this, please pass along my regards to the rest. You guys and gals all deserve the fuzziest of hugs. :)
Secondly, in contrast to my MFF 2011 report, I decided to take it real easy on the drinking this year. I was a little nervous at first thinking I'd be the bored sober guy at the wild party, however it worked out wonderfully in the end. I didn't totally abstain but I didn't buy any booze from the store, just had a drink with dinner and kept to one drink per party max. I took the money I would've bought booze with and just used it for tips at the parties I went to instead. I figure if I'm willing pay a restaurant/bar $5-$10 for a drink, why not pay my friends running an awesome room party the same? I totally avoided the hangovers and crashes I usually have during those demanding weekends which left me way more time to be social and suit.
Lastly, I can't believe all the people I got to see there. Got to meet some new faces, got to know some familiar faces better, and best of all, had some really special moments with old friends. Sadly there are only so many hours and days in a con, and there's lots of things I hoped to do and people I wanted to see more of, but things don't always pan out the way you think. However there were a lot of moments of serendipity and unexpected surprises that just totally put a bounce in my step, a wag in my tail, and made me feel like the luckiest dog to have all these awesome people around me.
And lastly lastly, I managed to not let missing my shep ruin my awesome time there. Thankfully it's hard to have PCD when you come home to the most loving and wonderful husband. He makes my whole world go round.
... Lastly lastly lastly: I have to link to this picture because it was just too perfect. I was walking down the hall and saw someone taking a picture of thumper, so I had to photobomb it. He didn't know I was there until after the picture was taken: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9293056/ :D
FC is coming up right quick and hopefully gonna do it all over again on the west coast! Hope you all join me! :D
