Stuff just keeps on happening...

So right now I'm sitting in a familiar place: alone. Sesame took Lucca to meet his family, and Tavi and Ozzie went back to see Ozzie's clan. As for me, my solitude is only temporary, as by dawn I'll be heading up north to spend Thanksgiving with my mom and sis.

This has been a rough year for mom to say the least, what with her mental state deteriorating so. At least that's what's being reported to me. When she's on the phone with me, or her sister, or sometimes even when she's with my sister, she seems quite lucid and very nearly the woman I've always known. It's kind of vexing, but maybe I will learn something about what's really going on tomorrow.

Anyway, back furside, MFF was quite a good time, if flawed in just a couple of ways. One was the issues they had with the elevators in the part of the hotel we were in. I'm sure those are already quite famous around here. At least we "only" had to climb four floors to bypass the elevators.

The bigger problem was the relative isolation of the hotel site. There were places around, yes, but most of them were very expensive and the one exception was this too-bland-for-words cafeteria across the street. Yes, McDonald's was just a bit over half a mile away but our group is not one for walks of that length. So for the most part we ended up stuck at the hotel and paying through the muzzle for meals, either in-house or delivered.

So we've more or less resolved that until we REALLY get on top of our home finances, we are not going to any more cons that we can't drive to. Which basically means MFM and FWA and definitely not MFF. So, sorry Chicago. It was fun, but it wasn't meant to be.

So anyway that more or less brings things up to date. Here's hoping everyfur's Thanksgiving has at least something to be thankful for.
