My cintiq's screen is 0.4 inches larger while being 1280x800 and not also being a computer - ie just a drawing tablet+ monitor. It's twice the weight, has several pounds of cables (converter and ac adapter boxes being the main culprits here). When I bought it 3 years ago, with the extended warranty, it was almost $1,400. To use it on the go I need my laptop, 1 by 3 feet of table realestate, and access to a wall plug.

This thing is a 1920x1080 laptop tablet hybrid with wacom hardware, 4 gigs of ddr3 ram, 1.7ghz dual core, and a 120gb ssd. No cables, optional keyboard dock ( which I may replace with a nostromo for drawing like all the cool kids). It runs windows 8 instead of the usual tablet OSs so I can run anything my desktop can run without the limitations presented being a tablet that only runs apps. It has a 5-8 hour battery life, requires no cables, and at 1.9 lbs is less than half the weight of my cintiq.

This thing though.... it's a tablet, drawing tablet, and windows 8 laptop all rolled into 1 amazing little device and it will have paid for itself within the first month! And this really the most important thing to consider. This isn't some toy I'm buying. I want it so I can do work on the go.... and I have my hopes on this being the next big revelation in my work flow.

And I imagine it will be... and worth every penny, as introducing the cintiq was~

While I understand it is for drawing, I just don't think it'd be as accurate as a dedicated drawing surface. That's coming from owning an actual tablet.

Not to mention, if you're considering using this as a full PC, it is, only 1.7 dual core. So you won't be running any extensive painting programs, or extensive programs in general.

i5 dual core is fast enough to run anything you can throw at it.The wimpy video means no 3d games or extensive video editing but Photoshop will run just fine. Hell it runs just fine on a 5 year old single core tablet.

i5 is a broad term. There are about two dozen types of it and it can go as high as 2.8ghz

However 1.7 ghz is slow, even with hyperthreading behind it.

Being roughly equivelent to an i7 920 benchmark wise, it may be slow compared to an i7 3990 but it is certainly fast enough for photoshop with a Pentium 4 and one gig memory being minimum.

I've been drawing digitally for a few years. Until about 2009 I believe I was was running a 2.2g dualcore with 3 gigs of non ddr ram on an XP 32 machine using IDE HDs working primarily on PS 5.5 and CS3 so I imagine this 1.7g i5 with 4g ddr3, ssd, and 64 bit OS will be able to outperform it when using Sai or CS3, 4, or anything newer should I buy, which is what I'm counting on. It isn't going to play the latest crisis game or outperform my desktop.... but for what it is, unless someone shows me otherwise, I think this is my best option for what I'm willing to pay for a tablet pc I can do work on the go.

Not sure why you brought up another Processor that's comparable.

I'm not doubting the fact that the tablet meets the minimum requirements, that much is obvious. What I'm getting at is just that though, the minimum requirements. People don't seem to understand that Portable processors and and desktop processors are different.

They can absolutely have the same speed, but they will never perform the same.

I'm not sure what you mean about changing my mind. An i5 is reasonably fast for ahighly portable Windows tablet. It is still considered a high end processor and benchmarks slightly less than a desktop processor that was top of the line only a few years ago. I think everyone understands an ultraportable windows tablet is not a desktop with a cintiq hooked to it and the performance is not even close. I also believe everyone understands it's kinda hard to use a desktop and cintiq while riding a bus.

Numbers are one thing, but I've had laptops that even outperform some of my desktop on paper. Did they actually out perform the desktop? No. They didn't. There limitations and things that portable computers can't do.

$1200 is cheap for anything with a Wacom based digitizer and a full PC.

Theres a function supposedly where your just in desktop mode and you don't have to worry about android mode lol

Nice, it's an upgrade to the Series 7. It's not enough of an upgrade that I'd buy it myself but I bet you'll be really happy with it.

What are some of the differences between this tablet and the cintiq you use at home?

The place I ordered it from was set to ship it at the 28th, which was then delayed to Dec 8th. They upgraded my shipping from next day to same day for free while I was talking to them buuuuuuuuuut when looking at the info page again I saw in the preview images a disclaimer saying the dock is not included (the preview images being the only indicator that it wasn't included btw), though it was being sold for the same price as everyone else (close to $1300 with tax), the dock itself, while being hard to find due to a staggered release brought on by faulty builds and connections, sells seperately for $150.

So... while my theoretical tablet was still in limbo I cancelled the order and am waiting to order it again. Hopefully with a keyboard dock this time for the standard price :X

Probably just going to backorder it from amazon then sit and patiently wait. Definitly won't have it for at least 1-2 weeks though... ugh~

I had a similar problem when I ordered my new PC, and it was directly from NewEgg as well. Usually they're good about solving problems and having the shipping taken care of at the immediate sign of interruption. I ended up waiting about four weeks for my computer, due to the fact it was delayed, frozen at the border, and finally shipped by ground until it arrived at my door. Nothing that NewEgg themselves did, but it was frustrating nonetheless. :s
