Thanks! Getting the Samsung ATIV SmartPC Pro
13 years ago
It is everything I wanted in a tablet. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....Tpk=ativ%20pro
I know the specs I described didn't seem like much but they were indeed based on a computer I previously used to do all my work on which this tablet absolutely blows out of the water. It isn't going to replace my desktop and cintiq, which I still absolutely love (THANKS SKIMIKE), but I think it will compliment it very well while giving me the ability to work any time anywhere without any hassle! OMG so excited..... now if I can only find the damn thing in stock without people arbitrarily tacking on hundreds of dollars!

FA+

Its clocked a little slower than my GFs laptop, but they are great chips. :D enjoy
This thing is a 1920x1080 laptop tablet hybrid with wacom hardware, 4 gigs of ddr3 ram, 1.7ghz dual core, and a 120gb ssd. No cables, optional keyboard dock ( which I may replace with a nostromo for drawing like all the cool kids). It runs windows 8 instead of the usual tablet OSs so I can run anything my desktop can run without the limitations presented being a tablet that only runs apps. It has a 5-8 hour battery life, requires no cables, and at 1.9 lbs is less than half the weight of my cintiq.
This thing though.... it's a tablet, drawing tablet, and windows 8 laptop all rolled into 1 amazing little device and it will have paid for itself within the first month! And this really the most important thing to consider. This isn't some toy I'm buying. I want it so I can do work on the go.... and I have my hopes on this being the next big revelation in my work flow.
And I imagine it will be... and worth every penny, as introducing the cintiq was~
Not to mention, if you're considering using this as a full PC, it is, only 1.7 dual core. So you won't be running any extensive painting programs, or extensive programs in general.
However 1.7 ghz is slow, even with hyperthreading behind it.
I'm not doubting the fact that the tablet meets the minimum requirements, that much is obvious. What I'm getting at is just that though, the minimum requirements. People don't seem to understand that Portable processors and and desktop processors are different.
They can absolutely have the same speed, but they will never perform the same.
Left or right, I'm not going to change your mind.
This is one of two PC Tablets I was debating on myself if I were to get one (and I've been wanting something like this for years!)
What are some of the differences between this tablet and the cintiq you use at home?
So... while my theoretical tablet was still in limbo I cancelled the order and am waiting to order it again. Hopefully with a keyboard dock this time for the standard price :X
Probably just going to backorder it from amazon then sit and patiently wait. Definitly won't have it for at least 1-2 weeks though... ugh~
Who wins?
