well technically they were trying to sell it for 50 euros. and it was.. not even that great
honestly i think it's really dumb to sell what is basically intellectual property to people--99% of the designs i've seen are so generic that there is probably a very high chance that they've been done before or could very easily be done again, and then what's to stop the adoptable-maker from being like 'NO U STOLE MY ADOPTABLE FKJSDHSKJDNJ' just because some thirteen year old thought they came up with an ~AWSUM ORIGINAL DESIGN NO STEALING~
like i just saw a set of adoptables where somebody was selling a zebra design, and the only ~ORIGINAL~ thing about the zebra was that it had a short poof-tail. does that mean that nobody can ever make a zebra with a poof-tail now? wtf
Someone help me understand cookie cutter adoptables and why they're worth money.
I can understand a single adoptable for a decent price, you can offer like a picture or two of that character to go along with the reference sheet for that amount of money but
but
the short answer: they're not worth money. at all.
once you have the basic outlines done for the adoptables, a whole sheet probably takes like an hour to put together. take the avg number of adoptables per sheet (say, 6) and the average price ($5-7) and you're looking at almost $40 for what took the artist MAYBE two hours
lame. Free adoptables like that I could understand but fuck, man. Why would you want an adoptable that looks just like the rest of the ones in the set? Why would you even pay real money for that? That's the confusing part. The only difference you're getting is colors and markings. :/

yeah, fuck that bullshit
i mean i don't commission people for art of my own characters or anything either, but i can at least see the merit in that. ugh. people.
