If you do not want contract and pay that much. I recommend a Metro PCS phone depending if the coverage area is good where you are.

It depends on what you want to do with it. As much as I despise Apple as a company, the iPhone is great for someone that wants something easier to pick up and use. It's simple to learn, and stable. On the downside, it's very locked down; you can't do much at all to customize it, you're limited to apps that Apple approves,etc. Android phones can take a little more time to get really used to, and they can be a little "quirkier", but you can do anything you want to with them. They're much more flexible as far as what you can install, modify, or run, up to and including custom OSes, and at least in the top-end cases, more powerful than the current iPhone. As far as which android phone though, it depends on your carrier. The Droid DNA is absolutely amazing if you're on Verizon but I don't think it's available on any other carriers yet; on most carriers the Galaxy S3 is still the best. The Razer HD Maxx is getting a bit older now and not top of the line anymore; slower processor, cheaper screen, etc, but it does still have the best battery life in the class.

Was looking at the DNA at the store. Thing the guy said there's not slot for a memory card on it, so you're stuck with he memory it comes with.

Yeah, that's a downside to it...either a minor one, or a huge one, depending on what you plan to use it for. The Galaxy S3 might be better if you need the extra memory. The HTC One X (Or EVO 4G LTE if you're on Sprint; basically the same phone though) is another option; a little older though and doesn't have the 2 GB of ram the S3 has. Still fast though; I have the EVO LTE myself and I'm quite happy with it.
