Comment on this journal and I'll...
I suppose it is time for a new journal. This time a meme I got tagged by
to do, about a month ago. So yeah, I am late.
The deal is, if you comment on this journal, I will
1. Tell you something I learned about you by looking at your FA page for 13 seconds
2. Tell you a colour you remind me of
3. Tell you my first memory of you
4. Ask you a question
5. Tell you something I like about you
6. Give you a nickname
7. Tell you the object that is to the left of me
8. Dare you to do this yourself in your journal

FA+

1. I quickly noticed that you are like me. You are watching more than you are faving. (Your shouts was the clue.)
2. Red. It's because it's the most dominating colour in your icon.
3. I remember seeing that you watched me, a while ago, and I recall checking out your DA page.
4. Your page on DA contains many adorable pictures. Why have you uploaded so few of them on FA?
5. I love your interesting equine-hybrids. They look awesome. :)
6. I am bad at nicknames... Umm.. I'd just call you Dovie, I think.
7. My bed. (This is going to be boring... my computer is stationary, and located beside my bed.)
8. Yes, do your own journal like this!
2. Up till recently I had been dying my hair red for 6 years (ever since I moved out), but lately I've decided to remind myself what my natural color looks like (dirty blond). I miss the red, but not the upkeep.
4. I'm having a hard time figuring out what all I should post on FA vs. DA. Do you think I should just cross post everything? I don't have much anthro art as of yet, so I figured most of my art won't fit in here until I do a bit more in this area.
5. Thanks^^ But most of them aren't my creation, just my interpretation (art) of someone else's breed.
6. Most people online call me Dovie, so that works. :P
8. On my way :)
4. I would post all your non-anthro art here. There are several artists here who only draw non-anthros and posts it all here. It will fit in just fine. :)
5. I did not know that. Still, the ones you have drawn are wonderfully interpreted. I love how they look! :)
Thank you for the kind works
1. You live in Skåne. It was the first thing I found out about you, I believe.
2. Dark green! Cause you said it is your favourite colour.
3. I believe that I started noticing you as you were posting comments on a lot of the same artworks that I was posting comments on.
4. How many Swedish furries have you met IRL?
5. You're a fun and all around nice person, and I love your icon. Don't ever get rid of it!!!
6. Ruffe. I know... I said I was bad with coming up with inventive nicknames.
7. My bed. (Boring)
8. Have you done a journal like this? If not, do it!!!
Ruffe is good enough since a lot of people call me that. :P
Oh I bet your bed is.never boring. ;3
1. You love nature and music, just like I do.
2. Green. Because there's so much green in your latest uploaded picture. (Herbivore)
3. I believe that you had favourited one of the pictures in my gallery, and I watched you, because of our shared interests.
4. What was the first instrument you learned to play?
5. I like that you love nature and care about animals.
6. Fawn, probably.
7. Guess? It's still my bed!!!
8. Do your own journal with this meme!
1. You're a fan of The Lion King and other animated movies, and TLK fan-community has been a good place for you
2. Purple (not surprisingly)
3. Seeing your artwork on FA, and watching you because I loved what I saw. I cannot recall exactly when it was, or what piece I first saw.
4. What are some of the dreams or goals that you wish to reach in your life?
5. You are one of those people who definitely seem to have your heart in the right place.
6. Should I try and be creative here and say something like... Mackie?
7. Would you believe it is actually my bed, still to the left of my stationary computer? I have not been creative enough to move all the furnityre around yet.
8. Oh dear, you are going to get so many responses to a meme like this... Only do it if you feel like it!
2. Haha I knew you were gonna say purple! :P It's funny, purple isn't even my favourite color (it's green) but when I created my fursona when I was 12, I asked my mom what her favourite color was, and it was purple. :) So it kinda represents my love for my mom haha!
3. Aww that's very sweet :D I'm really glad I had the honor to meet you here, because you strike me as a very sensitive and gentle soul :D
4. I hope to be able to live on myself without having to rely on my dad and my stepmom, whom I'm not feeling very comfortable with.
I hope to have a job to earn just enough money that I need (I don't feel the need to be rich) Have a nice house and pets and perhaps a family, not sure if I'm good at being a mother..I'm very anxious about everythingggg...
Also, I hope to keep improving with my artwork and meet more nice people like you! :) I've never been to a Con either so maybe in the future somewhere...
And last but not least, I hope to gain more confidence...
5. Aww! I can say the same about you! I try to be a nice person most of the time.
6. Haha haven't heard that one before really! Lot's of people call me Maq, Maqqie, Maqu and Big Maq.
7. That sounds lovely haha!
8. I might not do this, I was just really curious about what you were gonna say, and I love to talk with you!
I also love TLK. To be honest, I love so many movies, but TLK was one of those movies that I just could not resist watching more than once in the cinema when it first came out. There's about 8 or 9 movies that I can say that about. It's very beautiful with the Circle of Life-aspect... both how our ancestors continue to live on inside us, but also in the ecological sense, of how we are all part of nature, and intertwined with all other species of animals and plants.
I see that you also have rather down-to-earth dreams and goals, just like I do.
Regarding Cons, I have also never been to a Con, even though several of my RL friends have been to Eurofurence every year since 2002. I've just stayed at home every time they've gone, but I am thinking I should go sometime in the next couple of years. Also Confuzzled in England... my friends have gone to that every year since it started. I am thinking of maybe going to that one first, since it is smaller.
1. You like smoking "stuff".
2. Blue! (Was there any doubt?)
3. Seeing your comments and pictures about on FA, reading comments and journals and liking what I saw.
4. At what age were you exposed to, or started listening to, the music you like now?
5. I like your views on animals and animal rights, and you have good taste in music, and you seem to be a good person.
6. I'd probably just call you Blau, because I am not creative at nicknames.
7. My bed!
8. Yeah, do a journal like this too!
2. Earthy brownish greenish.
3. Seeing that picture, "listen.LEARN.understand.CHANGE." eight months ago.
4. I've never seen you mention anything about music. Do you enjoy any particular kind of music? Have you got a favourite band/musician?
5. You've written a lot of great journals about political issues, animals and nature that I sympathize very much with. And you seem to be a good person.
6. Yeah, um... Jive... wow, creative, eh?
7. My bed, surprisingly enough.
8. It'd be cool to see you a journal like this also!
1. Nothing I did not know before!
2. Black!
3. Chatting with you on talkers in 2004. But the more memorable "first memory" is first time you came to visit at my farm.
4. Boring question: Any snow at your place yet? Less boring question: What's the last movie you saw?
5. You're a good friend, and a great person to hang around with. Always enjoyable to do vacationy things together.
6. I just always call you Darkwolf don't I? And you're always calling me "towel-head" when I come out from the shower.
7. It's... <drumroll> ... <suspense in the air> ... <still drumroll going on> ...my bed!!! <loud cymbals>
8. Yeah, do it!

A: Your gentle and loyal character
6. Give you a nickname
A: You're Furtail!
7. Tell you the object that is to the left of me
A: My dads laptop which is getting a new Windows install *shock, horror!*.
7. Tell you the object that is to the left of me
A: My dad's laptop which is getting a new Windows install *shock, horror!*
8: Naw :P
1. Spanish is your native language.
2. That nice beige-reddish colour of your fursona.
3. Reading your comments, as you often commented on the same pictures that I also commented upon.
4. How did you choose the mix of species for your chimera character?
5. I like your views on nature, you like many of the species that I like also, and you seem like a good person.
6. I'd probably call you Vbik, but I do not know how to pronounce it! :)
7. My... bed.
8. Maybe you will do this meme in a journal of your own?
Hello there Bull
1. You're from England.
2. Not surprisingly, I think of the colour of your fursuit, respectively the colours of your hyena-self.
3. You watched me, and gave nice compliments on my character. You seem nice, so I watched in return. :)
4. Have you had both your fursonas since you started hanging out around the furry fandom?
5. You seem like a nice person, and you have an adorable fursuit!
6. I'd be likely to just call you Redmoor.
7. Bed (yeah).
8. Yup, do this meme in a journal too! :)
Hello cutie bull :)
When the bull chats to me, consider me a bull as well :) Unless you like the hyena more.
My fursona started as the Highland bull which i love. I love bovines they are just so adorable creatures. But one day I had dreams about spotted hyenas, got a little obessed over a few weeks and decided to have another fursona as the hyena. It has to be said that I love both creatures a lot :)
Thanks for the interesting reply, my dear fellow bovine! :)
1. Your character is an equine/canine hybrid. (I actually used to be a bovine/canine hybrid many years ago.)
2. White.
3. I saw you around, seeing you comment on a lot of the same pictures that I was watching. Then you watched me, and we started communicating a bit. :)
4. What music do you like? Any favourite style, band or musician?
5. I like your sense of humour, and you seem to be a kind-hearted person.
6. Umm. Cani, I guess.
7. A piece of furniture made from wood, used for sleeping in.
8. Yeah, do this meme, it'll be interesting. :)
1. You've been around cows most of your life, and still are.
2. Reddish Brown and White.
3. I noticed you post your cute and fun sketches and drawings of cows and foxes. Liked what I saw, and watched you.
4. What are your favourite cattle breeds? and What are your favourite horse breeds?
5. You seem to be a nice person, I really love your sketches and drawings, and I am happy there are more people here with RL experiences of cattle.
6. Umm, no idea... Your profile page suggests Cowsy, so I guess that's what I'd call you.
7. If I look up, there is actually also a ceiling lamp located to the left of me, hanging above the bed.
8. It'd be fun if you also did this meme. :)
2. Hmm. Can't decide between blue and green... Well, Blue is obvious, isn't it? :)
3. I saw your photo of 485 in someone else's list of favourites, and immediately clicked on it! (Of course.)
4. Well, this is a very similar question to what I asked cowswithguns, but I am curious about it, so: What are your favourite breeds of cattle, and your favourite breeds of dogs?
5. It makes me very happy that you speak so fondly of cattle, and that you treat them so well.
6. Blue!
7. My cozy bed.
8. Yeah, you already have, and it was fun. :)
2. Tell you a colour you remind me of
3. Tell you my first memory of you
4. Ask you a question
5. Tell you something I like about you
6. Give you a nickname
7. Tell you the object that is to the left of me
8. Dare you to do this yourself in your journal
Hehe :) I do really enjoy music, I find listening to it is a good way to let out a lot emotion and relax. And I do like coffee :P I have to be up early to milk and it keeps me awake enough to do it properly if I've decided to go out the night previously xD
It is my favourite colour :)
My favourite girl <3 Hehe :P
Oh that's a tough question :P Um.. If I had to narrow it down my favourite cow breeds are Dexters, Normandy Cattle, Highlands and British Friesians (the red variety especially), though I don't think there are breeds I don't like really, but I have a soft spot for those four :) The dog types I like are Border Terriers (I have one :)), Alaskan Malamutes and Wire Haired Fox Terriers :) Though like with cows, there aren't any breeds I'm not fond of :P
Good! :) Hehe
Yes, I think that nickname will work out ;P
*Bounce* :D
This has been fun :)
Oooh, Dexters are lovely. They are still very, very rare here in Sweden. I think there are only 5 breeders of Dexter in the entire country. One of the largest breeders of Dexter in Sweden happens to be only 4 kilometers away from where my grandfather's farm is, where I partially grew up.
I don't think we have any Normandy Cattle at all in Sweden, nor do I think we British Friesians here. Highland Cattle are semi-common here, though. :)
Our own national black and white dairy breed, Swedish Lowland Cattle (SLB) has become extinct, because of so much genetics from American Holstein. So, the breed officially changed name from SLB to Swedish Holstein a few years ago. In this case, it was for the best really, because SLB had been badly bred the last couple of decades and were not a healthy breed.
The breed which is called Swedish Red in English, SRB in Swedish, is doing well, though. :)
It's not really common place to see Normandy Cattle here at all really, my boss has a few and a few crosses running with his herd as his family used to show them a few years back. They really are quiet lovely to look at :) British Friesians, from the original population tend to be harder to come by now mainly from the influence of Holstein bloodlines :/ Occasionally you find some good examples of them though, my Uncle has some on his farm. I'd imagined there would be at least the odd few Highland Cattle in Sweden :P
It's a shame on one hand, but good on the other I suppose :/ It's nice to have native breeds, but only if they're healthy to continue. I've never really seen any cattle with genetic problems though apart from certain Holsteins. But I suppose that's mainly due to one popular bull and his many sons across the world. There are quiet a few critically endangered breeds here in England mainly due to the popularity of American breeds.
:0 I'd never heard of them before your comment, so I looked them up. :) They're so beautiful, they have the most gorgeous coats :D I do love red cattle :P
I have another photo of Swedish Red, here: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/8941215/ The description for the picture sadly disappeared when I moved the photo from the gallery and into scraps, but I took the photo specifically to show how much I love the super-soft winter-fur that had already started growing out in September on these lovely Swedish Red bulls.
About endangered, traditional breeds... I have posted two photos of such breeds. There is information about it in the description of the photo: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/7074185/ http://www.furaffinity.net/full/7085556/
I seriously think that the photo of the Rödkulla (the first of these two endangered breeds), is one of the best photos I have ever taken, but still I noticed that more people preferred the picture of the Fjällko (the other breed).
I love it when cows get their winter fur, it's so gorgeous. I don't think people realise how fluffy and soft it is. A lot of the calves where I work have sprouted winter coats recently and they look so sweet, it's almost too much fur for them :)
They look like beautiful breeds, the Fjällko looks very similar to White Park cattle one of the rare breeds here. I do think the photo of the Rödkulla is very good though, you can see the pattern of it's fur so clearly. It's a very beautiful shot.
That farm had plenty of pastures and fields, so no problem there. It also had a stables with four boxes for horses, the former owners had four horses, so the stables was in good shape, but I was not happy with keeping the cows in boxes.
It had another, large building of 200 m2, that used to be a hen-house, as there were egg-production on that farm in the 1960s. The former owners kept pigs in this building, but the building was really in need of repair. We were going to rebuild this building once we had renovated a few rooms in the house, but we found problems with the rooms when we renovated, so it took longer than we first estimated to renovate the rooms in the house. And by that time, the person who I bought the farm together with, moved away, and I knew I couldn't afford the farm by myself. So, I tried to find someone who was able to share the farm with me, but while I found people who wanted to share, there were none that could share it, for practical reasons, such as not being able to get jobs in the area, and such, and thus the hen-house never got rebuilt into the barn that it was first planned to become.
Some cattle owners would have just kept cows in that building without rebuilding it, but... well, it really wasn't a good home for cows without having been rebuilt, and that is why I never was able to buy my own herd.
Winter fur is so wonderful! It's not for nothing that both of my names contain the word fur. I love soft fur! :)
Ah, yeah, I had never heard of White Park cattle previously, but they look very similar to Fjällko. They must surely be related in one way or another. Although Fjällko is a polled breed, just like Rödkulla is.
You wouldn't want any cows of yours with just a building like that with access to though would you? The cows wouldn't have been happy there.
Though saying that I work for a dairy farmer who currently has 5 calves in pens in a chicken house, though it's in very good condition and it's only temporary. There's been a boom in calf numbers this month.
Haha :) It is brilliant, I love going up to the cows with their winter coats out and cuddling them. So much awesome fluff :3
They must be somewhere down the line, they're an old breed after all. I love their black points. On a farm where I used to work we had a Holstein heifer born that had red points, but was primarily black and white. She was a gorgeous animal, but I'd never seen markings like that before. Going back to cattle breeds that are related, apparently Dairy Shorthorn Cattle served as part of the foundation for Swedish Red Cattle. I've recently developed a liking for Dairy Shorthorns for their all round good perks and their fabulous roan coats :)
I looked up pictures for Dairy Shorthorn Cattle. They do indeed seem very similar to the Swedish Red, so the relation makes perfect sense. :) Lovely breeds. :)
They are indeed :) I figured one day when I get my own farm, I'll invest in some of the rarer breeds. Hehe :D
