End of the world countdown!

I know there's allot of talk about this 2012 thing. I'm just here to tell you that... you have every right to be scared, because it's going to happen! I have that on the highest, or should I say, lowest authority!
Oh yes, it is all quite real I assure you and while all you silly humans are busy acting like lunatics and rioting in the streets, me and my fellow Hell dwellers will be settling right in, waiting to take over while humanity is wiped off the face of the planet!
Perhaps you can help me with something. I'm trying to decide what kind of party dip would be best. What screams, "end of the world?"

the problem with ends of the world, is just what is meant be world, and what is meant by it ending.
there are some converging trends which will result in some, possibly a great deal, of suffering. but not of a sort that can happen in a single day.
also resulting from forms of stupidity that have little or nothing to do with beliefs or lack of them, of any sort.
other dates have been set in the past, and others will again in the future. at some point there will be a rather unpleasant decade or so. but not something that dramatic happening in/on any one single day.
