I always wanted to work in the United Nations or the American State Department because I like to connect the world. I live in America and it looks like I might become an enemy to not only to the American people but also to many of the people like you. I don't want to help the world become a military ruled world then I'll become everybody's enemy. However that stuff about the EBT phone is true. As Benjamin Franklin said, he who trades freedom for security deserve neither. Getting free money has its prices too. Hopefully I'm not forced into leaving America to either live in either Vietnam or Singapore but most likely Singapore if worse comes to worst.

Every day I just feel so fucking privileged living in Australia and these developments in the US is only making me feel more and more lucky each passing day.

I know I didn't come to America for this. My friend works for the IRS, an American government agency that goes after people who don't pay taxes. A lot of people say the American government has too much bureaucracy and the State Deparment is part of it. When I told one of my fur friends about my dreams to work for the Amwrican government and how I fear I might betray him, he told me that he won't hate me and I won't betray him because I'm doing my duty. Also I heard Australia has a problem with censorship so how's that working out there?

Eh censorship is mostly about movies and games, porn isn't a big issue and it's actually pretty decent down here + free health care and if you don't have a job the government houses you (unlike in America).

That is what I mean when I feel privileged here. The government, while strict, is fair and keeps the livelihood of its population above all else (hence no firearms which is a fair trade for no mass shootings).

Oh okay. At least I have no interests in becoming an American politician since that job is more stressful than being an American bureaucrat.

The "survivalist" and anti-government crowds always need some huge, non-existent conspiracy to freak out about. I give it less credibility, if possible, than the "9/11 was an inside job" idiocy.

Well sure, it's a scary thought if it's true. But it's not. That's what makes it such a fun conspiracy theory.

I've read hundreds of hours worth of articles, laws, theories, and other bogus over the past couple of years on things like this. I don't buy a massive roundup. However, any of those people that are said to be on the "red list" could probably already be detained as terrorists with a tiny twist in interpretation. I haven't read the specifics of the NDAA's definition of domestic terrorism, but in the Patriot Act, it's defined in Article 802 as:

`(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;
`(B) appear to be intended--
`(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
`(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
`(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and

It doesn't get much more vague than that. But why would you need to do that even? It's not hard to stage accidents when you have unlimited power and trillions of dollars, anyway. But there's not going to be any mass roundups. There's not going to be a violent takeover. Those with power know people are stupid and predictable. This is going to be slow and silent, and people are going to ask for it in the name of things like "safety" "security" "equality" etc. And when resource shortages (through nature or engineered) get bad enough, the rest will work itself out. Unfortunately, there have been so many extreme conspiracy theories at every turn that no one will ever believe that something bad WILL happen soon. It's white noise now. They're going to keep believing that their little world will always be safe, and the government has the average citizen's best interests in mind. And eventually even those that spout that the government is going to kick down their door and take them away to death camps will be skeptical of their own theories when they don't happen, and they'll let down their guard and think just like the rest of the people do.

I just don't care anymore though. I've spent way too much of my time worrying about these things, and I'd rather make the best of the little time we have left.

Recently an F/A user who is apparently 66 years old (EmmetEarwax). Posted a comment in one of my submissions saying, "You gonna turn all your guns in soon, for an amnesty program?" I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or what, but the person also put a permalink to his comment in the subject bar.
