Since I have not seen any one else mention this I might as well give the true reason for the season. Happy Sol Invictus, birth of the unconquered sun. After all the original reason for all the celebrating that happens around the winter solstice in western culture is the fact that the sun will not disappear, at least not with in our lifetimes, and that the wonderful months of spring are soon to come.
