Well, they're at least keeping things relevant by being furry. Right now I can see an ad for custom collars (a decent number of furs get collars), a furry publishing company, a donation link for FA, a link to FA's convention site, and a furry comic. This isn't your standard website where they put up ads for random crap and "win a free PS3 by shooting the monkey" flash ads. They actually work with people who advertise and try to get deals--free shipping, for instance, or discounts (for Heathen City). And as promised, there are no flash ads with sound effects, no pop-ups, no political ads.

It'd be nice if they could contain their ads to a single space (like the left side) only, but really, they're not so annoying or distracting that I can't just tune them out. And hell, if it takes a few ads to keep the site running, I'm not going to complain.

Hehe. Tell you the truth, 90% of the time, I don't even see the ad at the bottom. I reach my comment box, click, and then TAB+SPACE to send.

which is why I think, i fthey wanted to promote it, they should have done like myr suggested and left it in the left corner or somewhat. and not at the bottom so people would bypass it as another mindless link or just not see it and continue on. im just saying is all

wait, thats 5 ads on one page, lol. I have a good question, why not do like some other sites and have a LINKS tab in the control box or left corner with the forums and journals tabs so that they could click on that and then have a page with full banners and links all to themselves? I think that would work, and would leave for move advertising too. If thats the case with the money and all. But, i guess it helps the community.......

and just a note....i wouldnt were a collar.....it sends the wrong message to people. and it makes me look bad. just my opinion

Well, hun... nothing like a free lunch, ya know? I don't ever even recall 'no ads' ... but if they said that, they were the fool... and if you believed them... ... well, money has to come from somewhere, hun. I'm more grateful, really, for a free website where I can upload my character's hijinks and meet some awesome people, like yourself. I mean, we can all jump boat to the next 'all free, no ads' site... but how long before we have to start bailing there, too?

as soon as a subscription service comes in place to give people who can afford it, added services, I'm gonna go full pelt to build my own artwork and music display website ;) already made a new journal postig the concept :P

cool, but I think FA might b e a little ways off from that, maybe never happening. I just think that they should follow there words and not try to give special rules to those who pay for there material to get out to the world, regardless of the age or if the viewer wishes to see links to mature sites.

When I was an admin on this site years ago I wanted to see ads put into place. They never were. At that time the understanding was that the left side of the screen, 'wasted space', was intended for advertising. It seems someone forgot that and stuck a big wide one down the bottom of the page instead of putting it tall on the left side where it belongs and was originally supposed to be.

Now I'm not opposed to ads because they are a necessary form of income for successful sites and I wanted them back in the day. However, some of the ads go waaaaaay over the line. The Team Fortress 2 ad with the kirby-dragoneer was so far over the line it disgusted me each time I saw it. They should not be abused as a method generate popularity for a person, particularly an admin, who has nothing to do with the ad. If you've purchased space to advertise yourself or your page it's a different scenario, but when you're advertising a game service, or a comic con, and and throw someone up there for a popularity grab, then I ad-block or block-site it. I don't care if it's citras or kirby-dragoneers -- I don't want to see that kind of advertising. It would be totally different if zaush or dragoneer were paying for the spaces to advertise themselves like the way DeviantArt does it. If DA was running ads saying 'Jark-approved sunglasses' with flashing yellow aliens, I'd block them for the exact same reasons. However, i would not block a 'visit Jark's page' ad.

I'm not sure I'd worry about premium or subscription-based services because 1) the current staff isn't capable of implementing them properly (years ago I was not knowledgeable enough to criticize...but things have changed), and 2) there's a lot of competition out there. Going to subscriptions and premiums would likely give a huge boost to Furry Art Pile (FAP). Recently a porn site called Rude did this and there's a mass exodus going on because they want to charge for VIP accounts and cripple everything else. The result is everyone jumping ship and new rivals clamoring to the top because of a competitor's poor target market decision.

Again, ads are important, I supported them in the past and still today, and the current implementation is nice except for the popularity ads and big wide one at the bottom of the page. Rabbit Valley is great, Colar Factory is fine, and so are most of the others. Ads are something that keeps the internet free, so if you don't like em, block em client-side...don't try to get them removed server-side.

Pay to Paw (P2P lol) would kill this site, seeing a lot of furs can barely feed themselves, let along pay $ a month for it.

As for ad's containing Dragoneer.. yeah I agree somewhat. I know Neer is popular, important, site creator fur dude guy, but having it shoved in your face every time you come here.. what ever happened to humble? :P

Saying that. I can easily tune all that out, it just bothers me when I stop and think about it. So its easier not to care/think :P

thanks for the advise myr. just did what you just said, and now, the ada and banner are blocked without blocking everything else. But I get where your comming from with this. it does help the site. Im just tired of hereing them complain about bandwith and all that when they also add to a small part of it too. *like I said in my statement, I could be wrong* And I dont recall that dragoneer one, but its better to not know than to find out.

Yeah I agree the ad's are a bit of an eye sore. But if it keeps this place chugging along, I would be more than happy to see it.

What they should do, is link the ads from an outside site, so people can at least block them via Firefox/adblocker, without blocking every other pic on FA.

But in all seriousness, Im glad they do help out, but I wish that it would have move control over which ones should be shown depending on the mature setting and the adult content setting thats in the site settings in control panel. I dunno, maybe this is just a random rant to blow off some steam for no apparent reason, lol.

The current add is for CockTail or some thing witch I find confusing it sese all mail but a think I see a fem on it. But I wont to tell you about the PG13 Avatars is that FA is technically is not Adults only site and it would probably take more effort if they were to block avatars to people who don’t have accounts or don’t have adult content termed on.

thats the thing I was trying to say......if it isnt such a adults only site, when why is there a link to a adult rated comic? that anybody and there grandma can click on, and with names that would either turn some non adult furs off, or would raise some eyebrows with some that have a deep view on the furry community already? I just wanted to say that they should have some of those adds show only if the adult art thing is turned on in the settings, and not slapped at the bottom of the screen in plain sight. I didnt mean to say, remove them, just hide then from some that might be underaged and or some that might be looking at a good excuse to yell Yiff in hell Furfags!!! or some crap like that.

They don't just put all the ads on a separate page because nobody would view it. The ads are always there because potentially anyone could be interested in what they sell.

true. but then again, like minnie said, it would go completely unnoticed regardless but a majority o the community. I sstill hold to adding small boxes the size o the control panel box on the right side of the page to house these banners in a orderly, and also a more viewable *many people would see it at the top anyways* And it would have less clutter and or useless banners where nobody sees them. And also, would get rid of the ablility for someone underaged to click on the link at the first start before logging in.
