cat allergy help ???
12 years ago
can i ask a question ???
i’ve had my kitten for a week and a half. i love him very much. but recently my brother (who is 8) has been having itchy eyes (similar to conjunctivitis) and the doctor says that he’s allergic to cats. my mum wants to get rid of our kitten but of course i don’t want that at all. ): is there any way that you can possibly get over a cat allergy, treat a cat allergy, or something similar ? D: please help, i don’t want to have to give back Cosmo so soon. ;__;

but like nightmarehoul said. the longer youre around something youre allergic to, be it dogs, cats, or pollen (sometimes....), the more immune youll get to it. if you have a baby around a dog the baby wont be allergic to it... but in my case, i think if you have a dog and a baby and then you have to get rid of the dog for some reason, ie trying to bite/eat the baby, the baby might end up allergic to dogs later on.
for pollen on the other hand, you can buy pollen and eat it and get over those allergies--but it tastes like hay...
and honey from the flower youre allergic to will lessen your allergies, i think a spoonful of honey once or twice a day.

Whether or not your brother is willing to become immune to them like me (which will take a long time), or if he wants to just take allergy meds, is something you should talk to your family about. As for the type of medication, you could use any non-prescription allergy meds. I would look at the dosage before using/buying, to make sure it's safe for him to use. It would also help your brother if he could wash his hands after touching the kitty, also taking care he doesn't rub his eyes or touch is nose, as it can get itchy too.
Hope this helps!
