If your Dont know why, its Called X and Y here's the Theory I came up with.
Pokemon X and Y is for the 3DS, as they represent the X and Y axis for 2D diagrams, and eventually and possibly Pokemon Z will be released afterwards which includes the Z plane which shows on a 3D Plane, symbolising the new Pokemon game in 3D.
