Intent

Sometimes I get asked why I cover genitals, or don't draw nipples. There are a few reasons, but the biggest one is artist intent. I am not trying to make porn here (not always), I am trying to do more of a pin up style. Leaving a little something to the imagination. When you do full exposure you take away any chances of the viewer being able to use their imagination. I as an artist love to use my imagination. It gets me off. So, I figure if my imagination gets me off then it might do the same for others.
Zelnyair and I were talking recently and he asked me about my art, and if it was my intention to hide these things. Yes, yes it is my intention. He completely understood where I was coming from, and said one of the most profound things I have ever heard. "It's not the nudity that's erotic, It's what you do with the body..." That statement hit the nail on the head. A Person is not just genitalia and nipples, they are hands, eyes, mouth, nose, ears, arms, legs, torso, and most importantly expression. If you are looking at my art going "where is the sex," you're doing it wrong.
