Yea, I have been accused of the before, several times. In fact, that stereotype has followed me on many of my world travels. Its always the same, I get the dumb redneck treatment until they learn that I am damn smart. I have two degrees to show for and working on my third. Typically its from people from up north, particularly the Northeast. They make an automatic decision that because I talk slower, and use regional slang that I am just some ignorant hick. More than once have I been approached by them later, and given an apology.

I am from Montgomery, Alabama. I now live in Mississippi attending MSU. I am no stranger to stereotypes, from simple ignorance, to accusations of being racist. I do not deny that there are many people who fit those stereotypes. I would just ask that, before ones minds is made about the qualities of person based upon an accent or cultural mannerisms, remember that often those stereotypes dont always hold up.

The college that Gale and I attendant may be the most redneck hick schools in the country. But I can guarantee that we have the most intelligent hicks in the world.

I aint mad at ya, but I proudly rise too defend against stereotypes and of ill speak.

Professors who dont use MyCourses with the justification that it would encourage students to skip class. The calendar feature? Hell, I aint never seen any professor use it.

Getting little to no recognition to the art I work my ass in, and praise to art that is either thrown together, or experimental in my opinion.

why does college have to be so long to where you can't get a job? Why do colleges segregate band students from other students in dorms? A lot of other things that annoy me, but can't seem to name at the moment.
