Damn, we've been pronouncing it wrong too. I've always pronounced the "a" like the one in "dam".

I always thought it was "Tah-men" maybe because I speak Farsi so it's rare we use long vowels for names.

I've been saying it correctly. However, absolutely NOBODY says mine correctly without first being told. If it wasn't for the fact that I used it for a good 5 years or so before I heard anyone say it, I might have tried to come up with something else. Ah well. *shrugs*

ayeh. I have to admit I would have pronounced it wrong... despite being german. (not every german refuses to lay off an accent as wide as a Mercedes drifting tail-first into your way)

heh* my name people often confuse with being female, despite it's a male first name in ethiopia and surrounding countries. :) and then they also take me for a lady or something. :)

*innocently humpurr* I did so, too, at first (! now I know you're male ^.^), but I named my female dog Sheva as well, though it's a male name (but if I had chosen it for a male I'd have had to explain it all the time). Only name that was worse was the one of my male dog - Drakon (gr.). Everybody asked me if he was called after the dragon from "Dragonheart". No, that one was "Draco" (lat.).

And I've pronounced "Tamen" wrong, too, though I just have had to say it in German as well :/ - sorry.

My own name is often changed to "Kisha", "Khisha" or "Kisa" ;)

at least there are not way too many letters to confuse, or even *gasp* three hudnred 'X' before and after it, making it impossible to read at first glance. :)
