bird guts.

so today i made my first attempt at something like taxidermy... uh. having been a vegetarian for about twelve years, it was especially effing gruesome.
but also really, really awesome. anyone want to see pictures of before and after? gorey details? i might make a big post all about it later.

it's for the same reason that i'm a vegetarian.
i love animals. i like trying to understanding them spiritually/functionally/biologically/socially.
i've wanted to use/have animal skulls, a good big bird skull specifically, for a while. to use in art and as reference for drawing. there are a lot of people who sell them to anyone for cheap, but i don't want to buy something like that from some random stranger. i try to avoid buying or selling any animals or parts of animals if it can be avoided - more often than not it perpetuates the killing or mistreatment of more living things. that can go as far as pets, meat, etc.
and i am a scavenger of all things. so when i saw a dead raven on the side of the road, i couldn't let it go to waste.
it sat in a freezer for a while until i could get the knowledge [and guts] that i needed to do anything with it.. well, now i have its skeleton.
