I am looking to upgrade to a smartphone sometime in the near future. I currently have Verizon as I am still piggybacking on my parents family plan. Up to this point I have never had a true need for a smartphone, but more recently I have realized how nice it would be to have.
I have been looking at plans and it seems the best way to go is prepaid/no contract plans, since it seems any contracted plan would run me ~$80/mo.....too rich for my blood. One plan that catches my eye is Virgin Mobiles "beyond talk" no contract plans. They are 3 tiered with prices/offerings as such $35/mo for 300 min & unlimited texting and data, $45/mo for 1200 min & unlimited texting and data, and finally $55/mo for unlimited everything.
No when I say "unlimited data", that means 2.5GB of full speed data per month. After that it is throttled. I have not really seen any other plans that offer similar or better for the price. I know for some 2.5GB of data goes quick, but to be honest I don't see myself really using my phone to stream netflix. I will most likely use it for messengers, FB, web browsing, and email so I shouldn't have a problem staying under 2.5GB. Even if I decide to stream Netflix while under 2.5GB, the throttled speed should be fine for email, FB if I go over.
Just wondering, anyone here have any experience with Virgin Mobile? Specifically in CT since that is where I will be mostly using it (central CT), but any insight will be great. Coverage? Dropped calls? Lack of service? Etc?

If I were you I'd look into a StraightTalk Prepaid from Verison since Verisons Coverage Covers all of CT. I'm not sure on the pricing tbh cause I use Boost Mobile and they run off the Sprint towers as well.
Are their towers really that bad? While they clearly don't provide the excellent coverage Verizon does (from looking at their maps), it seems they cover most of CT quite well (aside from parts of western CT)
