Stalking on FA

Hey, if you aren't already aware of it, go check out Rukis's journal (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4345165/) and read up on this stalking thing that drove one artist to leave the FA community. I think it's important for people to be aware of this kind of stuff and to have a discussion about what FA can and cannot be expected to do about it. I believe, personally, that a post that violates someone's privacy in the way that's been described--what amounts to unauthorized use of a personal character--should be removed. There are aspects to the harassment that FA cannot do anything about, but at the very least I would like to believe that if someone posted a story starring "Kyell" without my authorization, that I could complain and have it removed.
(
kmhirosaki is the only one who's used Kyell as a character, and it was only fair 'cause I used K.M. Hirosaki in one of my stories.)
Anyway. Read up, and when you see stuff like this going on, speak up to stop it.

For ease of reference, here is Dragoneer's account of the situation from the viewpoint of the admins.

And here is the finding of actionable evidence that led to the stalker being banned.

Basically, the reason I posted this--I try to stay away from drama--is that I am getting more and more annoyed with harassment when I come across it. I feel very protective of this community; it's my home, and when assholes come around making people uncomfortable, it pisses me off. My fans are generally really good and I have not had any problems; that said, I'm also not a woman, and women are by far the most frequent targets of harassment. So the point of this journal is not to take one side or another; it's to be aware that these things happen, to recognize what they look like, and for the 99.999% of us who respect each other to not be afraid to step up and say, "Hey, can I help out with this creep?" when we see something that looks like harassment.
Let's help each other out and keep our home safe.

Dragoneer has said that there has been plans (and some work done) on making a Guide To Reporting Issues or something like that, which would give clear guidelines as to what people can do regarding issues they come across and how they can help the administrators help them better, and that due to this situation, he's going to see about having that Guide put as a higher priority so it can be published sooner than later.
I see this as a good step in the right direction. More information is always better.
Hopefully this kind of thinking/discussion can help resolve confusion over this situation, and prevent future issues from getting out of hand like this one did.

There was no excuse for them not doing their jobs more effectively (especially with the extra help)
She did break the rules with the journal, but its safe to put most of the blame on the staff in this case, regardless if it got resolved in the end.
I have sent a not to her asking if she can re-think and to check her page for shout messages from everyone that has given her support and such. I know how this feels cause of the people on Youtube do the same thing and they do anything about the bible bashing knuckleheads that are TROLLS on there. If I was working for google and youtube I would kick them from both when they go offline and then laugh at them on the phone for going off at me when i was doing my JOB.
It all comes make to the JOB that the Admin and Mods do if it was brought to their attention they should've acted faster then let it go out of control like it has. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone and not at Dragoneer he is doing a good job but the blame lays with those that should've clicked and acted.
I run and own Austrlian Bronycast livestream show for the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic fans and before anyone says I'm gay truth is I'm bi so shut up. I know who that community is doing and we deal with trolls everyday but we just ignore them unless its about death threats and such then something happens cause we all report the person that made the death threat to the police.
If the person was posting her address and such including private info then I say throw the fucking idiot in jail and let him be the jail's bitch
DA would crack down on to the person that has been posting stuff about her and bann their troll ass right from the site and block them for good from joining up ever again.
I do run a with groups on Yahoo so it can be hard to keep in touch with all of them most i have deleted cause they were a pain in the backside most of the time.
Just wish the asshole would've listen and stopped this before the police were brought in to take him away to the cop-shop
However if you transgress their rules on their site - Beware - that when a admin can act with impunity.
The other thing that we must all be aware of is that the Internet is a web of information. Information placed in one node/forum/site MAY be accessed from others places.
For your consideration

Well, as far as i can give my opinion, the online harassment already is bad enough to be banned and the admins no doing anything is worst, but when there is signs of this moving to the real world and do nothing has no name.
Beyond that the admins havne´t responsability of what happen out of this site.
I apologize for my coarse English.
That being said, what do you think of weasyl? Do you think that it's only getting attention because of the drama or do you think it could end up being a viable site? I've been playing around with it today and I like it so far.

It's all very well for the admins to show favouritism and such (just an example) but when it comes to harming another...what the hell? You cannot let that go, EVER. If they do, they're just walking straight on to a negative news story when someone does get hurt or, god forbid, killed. And guess what the opinion of furries will be then? Even more negative. It won't be a guy who stalked a girl; it'll be a FURRY that hurt a girl. Sucks to high heaven but why is this so difficult for the admins and such to see?
Excuse my rambling...
1) Person A finds out that Person B who was stalking Person A is now on FA.
2) Person A contacts admins and shows proof that Person B is stalking Person A with evidence on another site.
3) Person A is told by admins that they can't do anything about Person B yet because they don't have actionable evidence and suggest that Person A blocks Person B.
4) Person A does not block Person B and instead makes a Journal post about Person B stalking habits in a fashion that violates the ToS and has it reported and removed by the admins.
5) Person A leaves FA and... well, everything else that you know of happened.
6) Person C finds some comments from Person D directed to Person A which looks really suspicious and directs the admins to Person D.
7) Admins find out that Person D is a sockpuppet of Person B doing some obvious harassment and permaban Person B/D.
This is kind of what I've pieced together. I'm not really sure how accurate it is, but I thiiink this is the chain of events.
Some potential issues here I can see...
1) Person A did not use the tools available to them, either because they didn't know how to or because that wasn't the response they wanted.
2) The admins did not investigate deeply enough into the situation initially.
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/...../#cid:31837225
It seems to me that there was just an issue of "things not happening fast enough". The admins were aware of the situation and working on it.
Also, the reason the above links no longer work seems to be that the user the journal belonged to might have deleted their account.
Then we're not just running away from a problem; we're trying to help solve it.
