Tethican information
I've gotten quite a few lovely notes from kind people in regards to enjoying my Tethican species  I'm very pleased that so many people find them interesting, complex and colorful, however there are a few things that I need to point out for those interesting in having a Tethican character to RP within the Galaxy Magnolia universe. I've gotten so many notes in regards to this, so I'm going to place some information here in this journal for everyone's future reference, then I can just link back to the journal =). Otherwise I'm repeating myself too much and losing track on who I've spoken to @_@.
I really want people to READ the Galaxy Magnolia stories I post FIRST . So many people have noted me asking me to have a Tethican character that can attend Wormwood Academy etc. Everyone needs to understand Ruga is the ONLY Tethican at Wormwood Academy and reading the story will explain why. I will not change this, please understand =).
Please follow the storyline, if you're going to make up your own stories, make sure it contributes TO the story. I'm starting to get paranoid; too many people are making up their own stories without asking me questions in regards to the actual historical storyline of GM. This actually stresses me out a LOT because I've worked so incredibly hard with this project and I'm just one person doing it. If it doesn't correspond with the history, please don't include it within the background of your Tethican character. I haven't had time to post a lot of information on the history, but it's all there. It's a very well developed history.
Your Tethican MUST contribute to Tethican society, i.e for example, in our reality, we have a monetary system and everything is really EASY. We can just go to the grocery store to pick up our food or if we need to do our laundry we put it in a machine, or even using wipes to clean a baby's diaper. In Tethican society such things do not exist. They are very hard working; they will break their backs to get the job done. They do not have a monetary system. They exchange goods for services without the use of money. They work together, they will work together to help one another even if it does not directly get them something in return. It's an incredibly complex structure that would take me hours to explain, I've developed it VERY carefully. Every Tethican must contribute to society in some way, they must have a job, go to school and focus on helping society –much like ants, except without the mindless slave thing. They literally CANNOT afford to be selfish. I don't want to give the storyline away, but the Tethican society crumbled because of UEGAD. (GM Readers know who UEGAD is) their society, way of life and people were literally destroyed by UEGAD. GM Readers will be slightly aware of this according to a conversation Ruga and Nim had in Book II. It will get more complex and explanatory in Book's III and IV. Tethicans who are selfish or inwardly focused by the time they reach their teens will start to be looked down upon and eventually outcasted or rejected from society all together –according to their way of life. If your Tethican does not have a job, or is a threat to the people he or she cannot be accept within the colony. It sounds cruel, but remember, one grain of sand can tip the scale and anything could go wrong –according to Murphy's law. Those who are disabled or mentally ill however, will be cared for. Those weak are not seen as burdens and would be cared for. If they are not disabled or mentally ill, or are directly aware of what they are doing and taking away from society, they will simply be outcasted or rejected. Type I Tethicans try very hard not to kill one another.
Type I Tethicans are a very PEACEFUL kind of people. They would be considered a female species because of their natural gentle ways. It is only the Tethicans suffering from rushed Memory Downloads or Protocols that can or may pose a problem to society. Again, this is stuff that Book II covers and Book III will cover a LOT. I hate talking about this, I feel like I'm spoiling too much but I guess it's necessary to understand that Ruga himself is an ISSUE, not the species as a whole. Type I Tethicans are defensive, meaning they do not instigate war. There are only a few times in their history where they have instigated war with Silver Heads. They are highly advanced with their defense systems to the point they never have to send in combatants to the field, air or water. Wow I keep jumping between past and present tense with this species, I hope this isn't confusing with the history line and Ruga's current status at Wormwood Academy O_0. Anyway, they are tactical when it comes to defense, intelligent and cunning and will wipe you out they're expecting you or you engage their territory boundaries. Otherwise, they can be easily intercepted, if you have the right equipment and knowledge on how to deal with them.
Type II Tethicans are very selfish un-empathetic creatures. I really don't want to spoil anything about them but I will say that their society is structured much like an Ant colony, whey they mindlessly serve their leaders. They will turn on their own kind if needed, as Loki explained to Ruga in Book II. They are capable of recognizing beauty and empathy, but are not able to return empathy BECAUSE of how they are raised in their society. I call this the Mass Hamster Effect, yeah that sounds silly but I have a point o this. A long time ago I saw where scientists bullied a hamster to the point it caused the Hamster Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. They took that large fat hamster and put it in a cage with a smaller hamster who had never been abused. That larger hamster then proceeded to bull the smaller hamster to the point the smaller one also ended up with PTSD. That smaller hamster was moved into another cage with an even smaller hamster. That hamster proceeded to bully that new hamster to the point that one ended up in the same state of mind. Tethican Type II are like this. It will all be explained eventually in the books, but this is just to give everyone a basic understanding on how ruthless these beings are. They are a THREAT to everyone including humans. If you took one Type II and had it raised amongst Type I for example, the situation would be completely different, same in the way as Ruga was brought up amongst humans. He behaves like a very immature unsocialized spoiled little brat who is unable to fully function within human society or any society. He learns as he gets older, but also tends to be set in his ways and single minded. Raised amongst his own people he would turned out differently –perhaps, in theory.
Type III Tethicans are the Type I's ancestors. They are very peaceful, they live near the ocean and tropical regions of Tau-Eradani and eat sharks. They will eat the whole shark, not just the fins. They will involve any sort of play or sport they can with water. They are extinct. If you want one of these guys, it has to be in the past LONG BEFORE Loki, Ora, Udell etc (The originals) storyline comes into play. Type III are also very technologically advanced and also defensive like Type I. Males and females guide their society together, again their society is built up very similar to Type I society.
Type IV Are Pygmy's. They stand roughly a meter to one and a half meters tall. They are also extinct, more information will come later on them. They were wiped out by the Silver Heads.
Type V are still are still a secret until I post artwork of one in my gallery or they are mentioned in the story ;). I don't want to give too many spoilers away.
Please do not focus on sexuality with this species. In fact, please keep it away as far as possible. I've tried very hard to make the species unique, so there's no need to focus on so many things. What I am saying is, what a Tethican's sexual preference is, is that Tethican's personal business, but this should not be the focus of the character. Again, over focusing on something like this can ultimately take that character away from society. Please keep it clean. Before the whole Tethican UEGAD war, Tethicans were highly endangered and struggling to keep their people together because of certain actions –according to UEAGAD- on Ora's end that broke the Tethican colonies apart. So basically what I am saying is that just keep this species clean and don't focus on their sex or sexual aspects. There really isn't a need, the focus should be on HOW they function in society and contribute to their species.
I'm probably coming off a control freak but I've worked so hard on this species, I plan to publish the stories and it is my life's ambition.
I will not change the storyline for you.
I'm sad that people see my Tethican species and think OH COOL! Cool species, is it open? And automatically want one without reading the stories or researching into it first. My Tethican species might be lovely to look at on the outside, but they are incredibly complex creatures with a story I've spent many years developing. If people want something flamboyant that they don't have to have restrictions with or specifications, there are plenty of adoptable characters out there and sparkle dogs. Please be kind to my Tethican species
I will provide an opportunity to other people for their Tethican to cameo on Galaxy Magnolia, but the character must be sound to the storyline otherwise I'm sorry but I cannot include him or her, I cannot change my story plans for any one specific character or characters. If you would like for your character to cameo in GM, it will be free, but there will only be so many positions open for this =).
I really don't mind if you want a Tethican character to RP within the GM universe, just please please, follow my guidelines, do not claim the species as your own, don't decorate them with piercings and things like this. Try to keep metal OFF of them. Remember, this s an electric species. Those little nodules that stick out from their ears are the "exit points" for electrical shocks and disruptions. When electricity enters the body, it also has to exit. Did you know that =)? Those nodules are the direct exit points as well as the Uropods on the Telson pad (GM readers know what these are) loading the ears up with metal piercings will only conduct electricity. Tethicans will wear metal jewelry and things, but just try to keep them off the ears. You are welcome to dress them up as fancy as you want and create cool clothing for them too :).
Your Tethican can have tattoos, but the Tattoos typically are long black lines that black out the shoulder area. There is significance to this but I haven't developed that aspect of their culture enough. Tattoos mean status, Tattoos also signify life changing events. Tattoos are not just merely decorations, they serve a purpose.
Solar markings on the face must be natural, like tiger stripe-like patterns or spots. In Type I, females will only have small dots, two on their foreheads. Males will have markings that expand over the face and ears and reach their peak when the male reaches his late thirties, sometimes a bit later but usually in the late thirties. They do not get these markings anywhere else on their body. These markings are highly iridescent, like the blue spot on a Peacock feather, or that shimmery sparkle that sometimes you can see on a cut slice of beef. The Solar markings serve various purposes; the gateway for chemical reading and an extra energy source, especially for producing electrical shocks. Tethicans have a complete symbiotic effect with the Chlorophyll in their bodies, much like how plants can pick up on emotional chemical reactions from animals and people around them. These chlorophyll deposits simply relay that information through olfactory nerves inside these markings to the brain. This is why they are far more thought responsive than humans because they know what's coming from a chemical reading. It's very sensitive, and it only gets more sensitive with age. Alcohol kills the chlorophyll effect in their body and takes time to renew. Too much alcohol will eventually kill the effect entirely and damages the symbiotic relationship with the "host". Literally, the Chlorophyll will not respond in the body anymore if that Tethican is abusing alcohol. It's the same thing as dumping alcohol on a plant. If they don't have that, they don't have the energy source to produce electrical shocks, so most Tethicans would not be foolish enough to put something like this in their body, but there are exceptions…
Tethicans smell from both their nose AND their mouth. They can literally smell through their mouth, so their sense of smell is much stronger than in humans. They have roughly the same nasal cavity that humans have, but have the smelling sensory olfactory nerves along the top gums of their mouth and the back of their throats.
:star: Lunch Lady Zelda mentioned I think twice, from Book I and Book II about Ruga spitting antibiotic into the soup. This ability will be explained in Book III, but I want people to understand that Tethicans are poisonous but they also have certain other useful abilities about them.
I'll add more detail to this later. Thank you for reading and I hope everyone understands. I'm rather sensitive and protective of this species and it's only because I've worked so hard and put so much love and effort into them. I really want to publish my story  Thank you again.

One of these days when I have the time, I'm totes drawing one of your males.
