I'd try to save the dog after all its just a job and even if Im fired i got a companion out of the deal and the military is always hiring.

I'd tell my family and friends about it for sure. With my remaining days Id spend some time with em and not let em despair about it. I would not be afraid after all we all go at some point what the use in fearing it.
