Since we didn't have one

I figured I'd make one. Since the political discourse and prepper conversations have been at an all time high lately, who knew it would be so popular among furries? Oh well :3

FIRST DISCUSSION: What's in YOUR bug out bag?
What are three things in your bug out bag that you couldn't do without, that might not be in other folk's bug out bags?
What are your three sources of fire of choice?
How many days is yours designed to last?
How much does it weigh? And other things like this.
Describe your bug out bag, feel free to link photos.

I've got at least one soft fold/rollable water storage container in mine, it's a 10 gal container that folds down to the size of a can of spray paint, and when empty weighs next to nothing. Food we can do without for a few weeks, water not so much.
I'm not familiar with Canada's weapon laws, so can't advise with any certainty but the US has concealed carry permits you can apply for, I would assume Canada had open carry/owning permits you can apply for? Better to have something than nothing, and in a survival situation between the three options of shotgun, rifle or handgun I will take the shotgun every time(Small game, large game and EVERYONE knows that noise!)
I don't know about Canadian grocers but there are some prepackaged 'space meal' style indian foods you can get in the international section for about $3 each that last for a long time. We've got about 10 of them in the BOB with our other foodstuffs(Mostly beans, rice, crackers, hard candy(great source of calories on the go), steak sauce(In case of venison), and a few MREs(Civvy MREs not the military ones)). Peanut butter though you're right, is a great source of calories and easy to eat on just about anything. I should really throw a pair of jars into the old BOB.
I didn't know soft containers came in those sizes, I'll look for one. We have a few Platypuses and a pair of jerry cans so far as well as assorted bottled water in our "oh shit box" (less a BOB and more a crate of useful things that hangs out in the bedroom and goes in the car boot during road trips).
Well... the short answer for Canada and guns is... you can't have guns. We basically have three levels of gun ownership; unrestricted (rifles, shotguns, semi-automatic rifles, etc), restricted (handguns mostly), prohibited (fully automatic, SMGs, military assault rifles). The unrestricted permit is obtainable by most people, you do a class with a test. Restricted is the same thing but even more classes and tests and money spent, plus you can't carry it anywhere unless 1) you have business carrying it (ie: you're going to a range, you can't shoot it anywhere else at all) and 2) you've told the police where/when you're transporting it. Prohibited is just forget it for regular people like us. In all cases concealed or open carry is completely illegal for firearms, and in our city there's a bylaw even against knives. Worth mentioning to my fellow Canadians who are curious about guns in Canada: we don't have a barrel length limit on shotguns for unrestricted firearms, provided it's factory-standard and not a mod you did yourself (yay snub-nosed shotguns! <3). Also, the short of shooting home invaders with restricted weapons? Don't do it. Self-defence laws are much harsher on restricted firearms, like a guy has to actively be stabbing your family before it's "okay" to shoot him with a handgun (with a shotgun tho, lol >:3).
tl;dr get hunting guns as handguns have too much red tape, hunting rifles are only for home defence. Better go learn karate or get a combat umbrella if you're worried about being attacked outside of your home (kinda sad, eh?).
Nephis will take over for me on the subject of food and some other BOB stuffs, that's his bag.
Yeah, you can special order them from different places. I found mine at olley's one day believe it or not lmao, on sale for a scant $25. Tested it when I got home and sealed the seam around the outside with a little extra rubber just to be on the safe side(its kind of flimsy). We've got a 5 gal and 2 1 gal water containers too. Having been on plenty of primitive weeklongs and such it seems a little over the top but for 2 people yeah, water. Can't ever have enough water.
Can't you home defense with rock salt rounds? It doesn't mortally wound them, although it will absolutely disable them. That stuff SUCKS! Also damn wtf Canada :( Its cool you can come down here and play with my guns instead.
And yeah, it's kind of sucky about our gun laws as we lack the freedom to make choices, but for me I'm really only interested in hunting rifles anyway so the no-handguns-on-your-person thing doesn't really blip on my radar all that much. Our streets are generally pretty safe, I would not want to conceal/open carry even if I could. For home defence, I'd have to read up on it but I do think we have something like Castle Law where as long as the exit wound isn't on the bad guy's front like he was fleeing and you shot him anyway, you're allowed to kill home invaders in self-defence. There's also this thing where in terms of the law, it's better to shoot someone dead with hunting rounds than to be caught wounding people with less-lethal/self-defence rounds ("oh, you are a bad man since you loaded your gun especially to shoot other humans!"). This is our less-lethal system, being on the wrong end of a shotgun is universal for "go away now" http://i.istockimg.com/file_thumbvi.....-your-face.jpg
...I think it's really cool that we can talk about this kind of thing without tinfoil hats getting in the way. We had a local prepper friend who we bought heritage seeds, etc with but now all he does is link us to chemtrails, NWO, fluoride in other countries' water (since it's not any over here).
If you get the chance you should absolutely talk to that trapper. I bet he could help you learn some really cool stuff that you can't find out any other way XD (and then share it!)
That sounds very much the same as in the US, although its' more of an unspoken law "If you're going to shoot someone breaking into your home, shoot them and make sure they're dead.. otherwise they'll sue you and since YOU, THE BAD GUY- CURSE YOU WANTING TO SLEEP SAFELY IN YOUR HOME!- defended yourself, you get to give them a ton of reparations >.>'
