Driftwood? Driftwood!
This afternoon I stumbled upon two bags of natural driftwood I had collected last summer and had COMPLETELY forgotten about. Now I'm trying to think about what I can possibly make with this stuff. Some are larger pieces, and some are smaller. Very smooth, I love the feel of them. I'm thinking candle holders, things like that.
One of things I like about making crafts and stuff is that you learn a lot as you go. I'm blessed by having a lovely beach near my home in Atlantic Canada, and you get some truly beautiful things wash up on the shore, including a lot of driftwood. I bribed my father into coming up with me last summer and we brought down some huge pieces of driftwood that had apparently started out life as a tree stump with roots, and it had bleached and smoothed so wonderfully. We put them in our garden, I planted flowers around them, and they looked STUNNING.
Sadly, I learned that if you want to keep that bone-white bleached look, you have to seal the wood with something, or over the year, as the rain falls, and there's no more salt spraying on it, it browns. So if I do it again next year, I'll have to find some good quality clear shellac or seal.
I'm going to be posting some more things on my etsy store soon, some knitting I have done, and some of the driftwood things. Keep an eye out.
Oh, and I'm taking COMMISSIONS! HIRE ME! XD

OP
If I had any skill at carving, that would be a really cool idea! Sadly, I don't think I know how to carve/ However, I'm definately considering giving it a try, lol. Who knows what I might end up with! :)
