“OpenCanvas” is digital art software by PortalGraphics. You can buy the latest version from their website, but the v1.1 beta is freeware. It’s immensely helpful if you’ve got a graphics tablet for drawing, but otherwise getting into digital art has never been cheaper!

OC v1.1 beta features:
1. Free!
2. Use layers with different modes
3. Various customizable tools
4. Connect online and draw with friends
5. Save and share animations of drawings

The downsides are that it’s pretty limited compared to a big software package like Photoshop, it has a few quirks and bugs, and requires Windows in order to run.

I dunno, personally i'm not much a fan of OC1.1, not even for the connectivity part of it.

I've got OC1.1 & OC4 and i have to say I love OC4 much more. Bonus points since i got it for free <3

OC 1.1 has limited if any hotkeys to work with, while OC4 has many.
The layering system i find to be a bit dated on OC1.1 where as 4 is much easier to work with to me.

*shrugs a bit* but it seems you already figured things out so i'll stop this ramble-fest before it begins XD
