Having issues with submitting a GIF

Does anyone know how to keep FA from fucking up an animated gif preview image?
I tried resubmitting it at least 4 different ways with a couple of different file formats for the preview image. What I end up with is a partially-rendered picture that isn't even my preview image. I don't understand where it's even getting the preview image from if I already have something that should overwrite anything else by default.
