Questions about your fursona
For everyone watching me with a fursona-- or a favorite anthro character they've made --what led you to decide on that fursona?
Did you already know about the animal, and felt that it was an appropriate choice for your avatar/character based on personality and other characteristics?
Did you find it appealing but didn't really know that much about it at first?
Have you learned more about the animal you chose since you developed this fursona/character?
Did you ever change your mind about using a particular animal because of a characteristic it has that you later learned about?
I find it strange that so many anthro artists are so fond of red foxes; while they are indeed lovely animals, I always found their temperament disturbing, and I personally consider their tendency towards killing animals that they don't eat to be murderous. I recently had a prolonged argument on DA with some other artists who attacked me for taking this position, despite the fact that I was able to cite published, peer-reviewed research as references for my position, and their responses were almost entirely unsupported by evidence and clearly emotional.

I actually picked my fursona based on two of my totem animals. I do fit most of the characteristics of both or so I'd like to think ^.^
Did you find it appealing but didn't really know that much about it at first?
Having a fursona? I thought it made sense, it was something I played around with as a kid... Always wanting to be more like the animals I loved..
Have you learned more about the animal you chose since you developed this fursona/character?
A little bit. Foxes and cats are more similar than I thought!
Did you ever change your mind about using a particular animal because of a characteristic it has that you later learned about?
Not really ^.^ I like being a blend of red fox and orange tabby cat
I've heard zoologists describe foxes as being more like felines in habit and personality than other cats, so I wouldn't be surprised at common characteristics....
You already know the bit about the guinea pig, but I also like mice better. Plus guinea pigs don't seem quite so excitable as mice do.

Mostly my personality, plus they're adorable!
Did you find it appealing but didn't really know that much about it at first?
... yeah I don't know too much about mice except they're always jittery... and nervous.

...uh... I'm supposed to?

I didn't change from the guinea pig because of something I found out about it, but because I just didn't like it.
