On top of all the crap that's gone on in the last two months, my cat Gizmo has come down with a swelling to one side of her jaw. She still seems to be eating well and she's very alert. I took her to the vet to have it looked at, hoping it was just bad teeth. Between the visits, the meds and now X-rays, we've come to two possible conclusions. One, is that it could possibly be a pocket tooth infection, but two is the more likely scenario with it being a tumor. The preliminary look at the from what the doctor said it looks like there's a tumor there with a little bit of bone involvement at the moment.
Even so, I'm about $550.00 in the hole with just vet bills(I did not realize that the doctor was going to take as many X-rays as he did) and I'm basically feeling like a beggar with a tin cup here, but there's nothing to be done about it. I'll be working my ass off to pay down what I can, but I'm hoping there are some folks who might be willing to help us out. Gizmo's been with me since my childhood and since she was weaned(since I was about 11 or 12) and we're not done yet. The vet is suggesting we wait until the official radiologist takes a look at the X-rays (I've already been charged for that thank god) before we give up hope that it's not a pocket infection where all he'd have to do is remove a tooth. The next step after that is prednisone and hoping the tumor stays where it is and doesn't metastasize anywhere else.
I'm at the end of my rope here. Instead of working on my challenge drawings, I'll probably start doing benefit commissions this weekend (pet walking/holding parade type stuff) to try and get this debt under control.
