I'm looking for epic food between the states NC and SD

I'm making a road trip from here to there and then back... and there are a bunch of states between... if any of you guys know of some kind of place that I MUST EAT at on the way. I'm looking for places that are no more than 15 dollars for the meal itself not including drink.
I am looking for the tastiest of the tasty. If you say the McDonald's near you is the BEST AROOOOUND, so help me... I'm gonna spank you. :P

Oklahoma Joes. Voted consistently best BBQ Brisket around anywhere!
Also Cedar Rapids is 45 min from me..as for great food spots..those are my secrets and you'll have to come get them from me.

Anyway, I can't name any good ones along that trek, and don't think you'll be traversing Arkansas (Otherwise I could name a good BBQ or Chicken/pasta place), but you could always check out Food Network's Diners, Drive-in and Dives for some choice reviews, or check out the map at FlavorTownUSA to see which white of the ones on the show are along your travel route.
